“You have to go in order to know.” This is something I believe VERY strongly in. How can someone recommend a destination if one has never visited it and become immersed in the culture?
2024 marks going into 13 years as a full-time travel professional. I have personally visited Cancun/Riviera Maya, Puerto Vallarta/Riviera Nayarit, & Los Cabos over 100 times since 2012. I’ve also hopped a plane to the Hawaiian Islands over a dozen times. Jamaica is also close to my heart, as I’ve been to the land of "no worries, mon" eight times and visited various other Caribbean islands including the beautiful Dominican Republic and Aruba. All of these beautiful destinations are some of my areas of expertise. I have spent years developing relationships with the resort sales staff and their tour operator partners, getting to know them and their properties inside and out, all in an effort to better service my clients.
My passion is helping couples plan their destination weddings at all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean, but I also book romantic trips for couples, social groups such as friends getaways, corporate incentive groups, and reunions. Resorts realized that partnering with travel advisors to bring destination weddings to them was a match made in heaven; after all, we are the ones who know the ins and outs of the properties and already the relationships with the resort staff from sending business to them over the years.
Prior to joining the travel industry, I worked 23 years in the media (radio & television), most of it spent helping other businesses grow by asking questions so I could understand their needs in order to recommend the best course of action to reach their own sales and marketing goals. A big part of my job was also planning events and promotions around my clients, which has really come in handy as a Destination Wedding Specialist. I believe transitioning into the travel industry was such a natural progression for me: it married my love of helping people find the best fit for their needs with my passion for travel, and it has been "happily ever after" for me and my new career choice ever since!

Erika has been working with our company for 6 years, not only booking and managing all travel for our employees (up to 50 at one time) but also planning and executing company incentive trips to Mexico and staff off-site meetings around the US and Canada. Her attention to detail and patience with the multiple changes that come with corporate travel is second to none. 30th Birthday Extravaganza!

Erika is so helpful, she takes all of your cares and worries away when she books a vacation for you. She was always available to answer any questions I had, and kept in constant contact with not only me but also my friends who were traveling with me. I have never felt more calm traveling out of the country. She truly makes sure you are taken care of from the time you book, til the time you get home. She also has lots of fun suggestions on how to make the most out of your trip.My first trip with Erika, I was a bridesmaid in a friendswedding that Erika helped coordinate. My second trip with Erika was for my 30th birthday. She was so helpful in picking the resort for my birthday. She gave me tons of options with all of the pros and cons for each so we were really able to pick what was best for our group. We found the perfect place, and it was truly the best vacation. . She also gave suggestions for a remarkable birthday dinner that we will never forget! She knows it all!

In the past I have planned my own travel but recently decided to use a travel planner instead. I'm glad I did and wish I'd have done so sooner. Erika made the process completely stress free, simply by providing answers to a few simple questions about location, flight times, and some additional pickiness I have with regard to air travel (I'm 6'6" so require leg room, etc.) Erika was able to provide the itinerary exactly as desired. All at a price a bit lower than what I was able to find through booking direct and with vacation prices.
Erika brings a personal touch to the travel experience and it doesn't stop with the planning. When we arrived at our destination she checked in to make sure everything went smoothly and ensured we received a small token of her appreciation for the trust we placed in her.
Anyone who loves to travel should work with Erika. I highly recommend her for all of your travel needs.

Erika was so easy to work with! She was great at communicating and met us in person to get to know us and what we wanted to do. She was always quick to respond to our questions. Planning a wedding is stressful enough so it was so nice to have someone that knew what we wanted and ran with it! Cabo Delight

Having been to Cabo several (10?) times, this was the first time I used a travel agent. Erika listened, advised and delivered a great all inclusive product (Marquis Los Cabos) at a great price. A price we could not get on our own. She knows her stuff and took good care of us. We had been to the Hilton Los Cabos many times (and love it) but the Marquis is better and a much better value. If you are looking for a way to make your travel stress-free, you absolutely need to work with Erika Lafata! Most recently, Erika planned a phenomenal anniversary trip to Mexico for us. We had been meaning to travel somewhere tropical to celebrate for many years, but always got overwhelmed by the planning process on our own. Erika’s consultative approach allowed her to present us with resort options that were not only stunning and within our budget, but also were in line with exactly what we were looking to get out of our vacation. She made sure we were prepared on all accounts, knowing that we had never been to Mexico before, and even helped us make dinner reservations at our resorts. In addition to personal travel, Erika has been planning my corporate travel for the last 7 years (probably 30 trips). Perfect Hawaiian Honeymoon

We absolutely enjoy working with Erika and so glad that she was able to help us plan out the perfect honeymoon destination! She was very thoughtful in planning out. Where is the right destination given the time of year and what we were looking for and we chose Hawaii! We booked turtle bay resort on the North Shore and it was perfect because it had more of a quieter scene with lots to do around turtle bay. Also, the resort itself had plenty of things to do that. We didn’t really need to leave the resort at all. The resort had very clean rooms and shared areas. The pool was renovated and absolutely amazing with gorgeous views and where we stayed had their own areas with walking access to the beach. Our excursions were all lined up in our app and ready to go. I highly recommend working with Erika. For our most recent trip of 10 nights, she provided us range of choices of resorts with detailed descriptions based on her own experience at each property.

I have worked with Erika for two trips now. This is the first time I’ve used a travel agent and I will not ever go back to doing it on my own now! She is attentive to detail and worked with me not only before the trip but during and after as well. I’d recommend her to anyone wanting to book a trip! Erika arranges all of my business travel, and that is a lot as I travel somewhere about 40 weeks each year. She has taken the time to know my preferences, and my life outside of work so when she recommends travel options, usually they are spot on the first time. The best thing about Erika is she truly cares that I am safe and that I am aware of what is going on. When looking for hotels, she checks out the neighborhood around the hotel, when delayed or flights cancelled, she is on top of getting me the appropriate lodging or alternate arrangements. When I have a lot of back to back travel, she proactively makes sure I know where I am going and when. I trust that she will get me to where I need to be safely and the best way possible. I hear other travelers stress about their journey's, but I never have to because I know Erika has taken care of everything.
If only all other aspects of work went so well!

Erika was very prompt with her notifications, planning and updates as we planned, prepped and paid for our trip to Mexico. She took all the worry out of the process of planning and really all we had to do was show up and enjoy ourselves. These days people take a lot of the planing for a trip on themselves and think it makes it easier, but working with Erika reaffirmed my belief that travel agents are definitely valuable and worth having help you design and plan a stress free vacation. That's the whole point right! We had a blast and will definitely look to use here for future trips.
