After living, studying, working, and traveling on four continents, I chose to devote myself entirely to fully customized Italian travel. It was a big risk in such a globally connected world, but the rewards quickly proved to outweigh it and continue to do so on a daily basis.

SCHEDULE:
I design each and every itinerary from start to finish, according to the requests of the client. In order to provide this personalized and attentive service, I can only take on a limited number of clients each month.
The ideal time to contact me is 6-8 months prior to the start of your vacation. Requests within a shorter time frame will be accommodated based on availability. Please do not hesitate to reach out at any time, as I will always do my best to accommodate or to make referrals to other travel professionals.

Please note that I do not plan travel outside of Italy. I do not book flights or individual experiences, such as hotel stays or train tickets requested outside of a fully customized itinerary. I am happy to refer you to other highly qualified travel professionals who can assist you with these requests.

Liana was always available. She answered questions we had and answered the questioned we didn't even know to ask. We gave her a budget and she was able to arrange our overnight accommodations and 4 private tours (for our group of 6) within our budget. She then presented some additional options and we choose to do them as well.
The guides were just as she presented they would be. We had 4 separate guides to 4 different areas of Italy- Rome, Florence,Lucca and Venice. I couldn't even tell you which was my favorite because they were all so great. They were each locals to the area with personality, passion and knowledge. So so fun. They seem to judge how much info was good and know when was more than enough.
We had 2 separate drivers as well. They too were personable, friendly and knowledgeable.
We felt so safe and secure and taken care of. It was truly wonderful.
Liana's suggestions about how to travel, what cities to stay in and what day trips to take was perfect. : )

The Trip of a life time

Liana seemed to make her priority to give us the trip of a life time. She wanted to know everything about us and what we liked and what we wanted to experience from our trip. She worked with the budget we had and was able to give us options that we never thought of or thought was possible. She made great recommendations to help us with our transportation needs and sight seeing. It seems like she thought of everything and answered all our questions and concerns as if we were her own family that she was planning the trip for.I would recommend her to anyone wanting to take a trip to Italy. The best trip of my life & a lifetime of memories!

When I contacted Liana to design a trip, I never imagined the end results. I wanted to show my children their Italian heritage. Liana tailored it all perfectly to my daughters & included fun things for my 10 year old granddaughter – like the truffle hunt with dogs and cooking class. She felt so special & wanted to stay!The food tours & wineries were a delicious way to see Italy. Liana always knew when to arrange a free day so we could discover on our own. All guides & drivers were so knowledgeable, with love for their area & such a fondness for Liana. Having my cousins surprise me at dinner in Rome was beyond belief. Walking the village of my grandparents, thinking of them before they came to America, was unforgettable. Arranging for a private concert there by Flavio Sala, was beyond words. Our final day in Rome had a golf cart tour & an amazing rooftop dinner. It was magical seeing St. Peter's with fireworks. I would and have recommended Liana. Grazie for a lifetime of memories!

Six friends visited Italy in October of 2017. They began their adventure in Rome. Two of the group had been to Rome several times. Amazing Honeymoon!!

My wife and I were interested in having a truly customized and highly personalized honeymoon to Italy. From our initial discussions with Liana, we knew we were making the right decision in hiring Italiana Travel Design. A dream come true

She went so far above and beyond in order to calm my travel anxiety that I truly don't know if I could have possibly had the same experience with anyone else. Taylored to Our Interests

When I started my search for a Travel Agent to assist in my trip to Italy I had one criteria, that they had been there. As I went through the process I kept speaking to Agents that had not been there, hardly let me speak, and just started grabbing "tour brochures" off the rack. Frustrated I reached out to Liana expecting the same, but she first ask what I wanted to accomplish, where I wanted to go and what my budget was. After she understood my expectation and that I did not want to be part of a big group, she tailored my trip to what I wanted, and where I wanted to go. Other agents could neither offer anything outside their packages, nor could they even get me where I wanted to go. Liana set up a plan, reviewed it with us, made changes at our request, and made it effortless on my part. Better than we imagined

Our trip was better than imagined due to all the planning and detail that went into the itinerary that Liana created. We planed our trip on short notice and it all turned out perfect. Liana worked on her travels while she was in Italy to make it all come together.We would never have done all that we did without her planning and input.
Hotels were top notch especially the one in Florence.
Private drivers were exceptional. Would never have thought of that on our own. Each one brought their own flare to our experience.
Tours which we usually don't do are worth every penny. Guides were extremely knowledgeable and entertaining.
Golf cart tour in Rome is a must.
I have recommended Italiana Travel Design to several people since we have returned. Liana is wonderful to deal with and is very particular to detail and passionate about her work.

Anniversary trip of a lifetime

My husband and I just got back from nearly 2 weeks in Italy- a trip exquisitely designed by Liana! From the very beginning with her asking us about our preferences and goals for our vacation to the courtesy and timely emails and the perfect final itinerary. Every guide we had knew something about us and had an expertise in the venue we were visiting. The big retirement trip!

I retired in June 2015 and in September 2015 I took my family on a trip of a lifetime to Italy. We were a diverse group and meeting my expectations as well as those of my 2 adult children and their companions,an 8 year old grandchild and my brother and girlfriend was no easy task. Add to that we had a short time frame since we had a two part trip with the heritage trip into the Abruzzo region taking up most of our days. I gave Liana quite a challenge to see as much as possible in 3.5 days. She was remarkable! Can't believe we used every minute and had a food tour, side trips to Florence, Pompeii and Pisa, a beautiful baroque music event is an incredible church and an overview of the primary sites in Rome. .Our tour guides were very personable, very knowledgeable and quite proficient in English. The 8 year old fell in love with each guide.
My request to Liana was quite complex and she definitely developed and individualized plan for us. I would highly recommend her.

Extended family trip to Rome

Can't say enough good things. The concert was excellent. The restaurant and food after were good. The monastery and castle in Lazio were amazing. The food at the castle was excellent and very reasonably priced. One of the owners of the tour company took us on our tour. The winery we visited gave us a tour of how they make the wine. The owner of the winery did our taste sampling. Great day. Thank you for the wonderful tours and guides. We've already recommended to friends of ours and hope they call. Just great.

A Honeymoon Worth Waiting 17 Years For!

This was my first trip to Europe so I was a bit nervous about what to expect, but Liana and her team did such a great job of planning all of the details and answering any questions so that I didn't have to worry about the details, just enjoy the trip. Everything went exactly according to plan and we thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it since it was exactly what we had asked for. Sicily and Amalfi Coast Dream Trip

From our initial phone consultation to our plane ride home, Liana executed every detail of our Italian adventure perfectly. She planned a multi-generational trip to Sicily and the Amalfi coast for us with just enough adventure for my husband and I who are in our 40's and enough touring for our parents who are in their 70's and 80's. The guides, the hotels, the itineraries, the drivers, and recommendations were perfect. She listened to our wish list and made it happen--including finding an opera for us and a yacht voyage. Worth the Wait & Every Penny!

Incredible First Trip To Italy!

This was the vacation of a lifetime! My sister and I had planned a week long cooking trip to Tuscany and thought it made sense to add on another week or so to see more of Italy. I contacted Liana after several disappointing conversations with other agencies. She immediately put me at ease and I knew she was the one we needed to help us plan. She asked questions of us to help her understand what we were looking for and those questions opened up options for us we didn’t even realize. Planning began with a thorough questionnaire of our interests for this trip to northern Italy, followed by a phone conversation. We were kept abreast of the planning, and had options for hotels, tours, etc. The trip itself was a dream! All arrangements for tours and transportation went very smoothly. Northern Italy is amazing!

For the first time, I admit I wish there were more than 5 stars to give for Liana's collaboration on my trip to Northern Italy. When the family knew we were headed to Italy for a family reunion, I went out and bought a travel guide to help me decide what to do and see. After that read, I had almost a dozen areas/towns on my list. Of course, putting all those sites into a single 9 days of travel would be impossible for me. But thankfully, Liana has the hands-on experience "in country," an expansive network of highly knowledgeable guides for art, history, culinary, architecture, and the cultural span across the many peoples who have contributed to the Italian experience. Best of all, Liana was "up" to the challenge of organizing the timing with drivers who also know the area, with flexibility both for my "one off" requests of so many sites, and the alternative planning when weather and traffic intervened. Our Best Trip Ever!

Liana was amazing in planning our custom trip to Italy! We have decided it was our best trip ever. Our 14 day trip seeing the Almafi Coast, Assisi, Florence and Rome was wonderful. Our favorite place was going to Villa Pane with Anna Maria and Guinluigi in Sorrento. One of our special memories is taking a cooking class with Anna Maria and all the personal attention they gave us. The beautiful setting overlooking the sea was incredible!All of the places we visited were wonderful. We have never had such custom one-on-one tours. Some of our favorite tours were the one-on-one tours going to the Vatican and our tour guide in Florence, seeing all the great Renaissance art. The golf cart tour in Rome and the food tours in Sorrento and Rome were excellent. We would love to go back to see other areas of Italy with Liana's personalized itineraries.

Best Family and Heritage Trip I Could Imagine

Hi Liana! I wanted to thank you for the work you put into our vacation. The guides were excellent...they all were very friendly and helpful. And on time! Wow what coordination!! Not one hiccup. I especially want to tell you how much Barbara meant to our vacation. She made the trip to our families' home. She was friendly, thorough, and made everyone feel at ease. She was great! The apartment in Florence was awesome. Loved the view out our window of the Duomo and the square. My sons loved Isernia. Stephania and Stefano really made the boys feel welcome. They loved going out with them and socializing. Overall, I believe the smaller towns were our favorites. We loved Pietraroja and Isernia. If we go back, we will stay out of the big cities and go more into the rural areas. As I said many times, I really do appreciate the time you put into our trip! :)

Trip of our lives!

We worked Liana to set up our trip to Italy. We visited Venice, Rome, and Sicily. It was a trip of a lifetime! She was very easy to work with, attentive, and really helped to decrease our stress of having to fumble our way around setting everything up. We were very well taken care of in Italy and the sites that we saw were spectacular. Our tour guides really knew their cities and made the sightseeing fun and an adventure. We had no trouble with flights and the transfers were easy and ALL set up for us. We decided to do all private tours and I believe this was really the way to go. I cannot express my gratitude for making this trip something that my husband and I will never forget!

My trip to Italy will never be forgetten. Every day was full of fun and exciting things to do. From the tour guides to where we stayed everything was perfectly planned. My favorite part was the authentic Roman feast our very last night. The food, company, and atmosphere of the dinner was so dun to be in. Amazing adventure

The entire trip was amazing! We thank Liana for everything.The boat tour had to be my favorite because our guide Mario, was knowledgeable, genuine, and fun. The new boat they had for us was beautiful and spacious, it even included scuba diving googles and tubes. The complementary drinks and snacks were nice as well.
The tour of Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius was exhausting but defiantly worth it. Teresa, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about everything in the area and gave us all so much information.
The tour of Amalfi Coast was nice as well the tour Guide was so well planned that he managed to beat the traffic. We were able to stop in Amalfi and see local shops and important places.

I'm a busy medical professional with a family and planning trips is not my strong suit even if I weren't so busy. I couldn't believe all I had to do was just open my email, gives her a thumbs up and let her take care of everything else. The stress I had about organizing such a big trip just disappeared when I started working with her! Everyone in our trip loved every single day. Everything she picked for us was like she knew us personally - and we have never met in person! The guides were all so friendly, knowledgeable, welcoming, and really made us feel so special. We can't even pick a favorite experience they were all so good! I have already recommended her to everyone I know. I hope we have the chance to work together again on a return trip to Italy. This trip showed us that one visit here is definitely not enough!

Rome hospitality at its best!

We went to the dinner party at Barbara's based on two things: the all star reviews and the fact that the owner of the apartment where we stayed in Rome, recommended it to us.Boy, what a pleasant surprise, to say the least!
Where do I start?
It looked like we went to this rustic Italy, right out of the '50-'60s. Barbara and her people were so friendly and accommodating, it looked like we were visiting our cousins. The house brought back nostalgic time and it looked like time stopped right there.
We were a group of 17 friends and we could not stop talking about the dinner party three days after.
The food was authentic and delicious, the wine kept flowing into our glasses and spirits were high. We had a little song and dance party and didn't even notice that it was midnight already.
There's not enough words to describe the fun we had and how much we enjoyed this experience. Many thanks to Liana who was so helpful and made this look so easy. We highly recommend this and will be back

A Trip of a Lifetime for Our Family

This was a trip of a life time for our family. Liana worked very hard to stay within our budget and give us an amazing experience. All of the accommodations were very impressive, and their locations were great. We had several guides and drivers throughout our trip. All were extremely knowledgeable of the areas and aware of our interests. They made it a point to help with finding things within the tours that our family was interested in as well as made suggestions for other attractions & restaurants that we might like. One of the other things that I was impressed with was how easy Liana made it for us to travel within Italy from town to town. Weather it was convenient to take the train or have a driver, everything was scheduled with plenty of time. We never felt rushed. We will be sure to recommend Italiana Travel Design to friends & family considering a trip to Italy. We also hope to return in several years and will be sure to contact Liana when the time comes.

My Go-To For Italy!

My first trip to Italy in 2012 was truly amazing! I had places I wanted to visit & turned to Liana for suggestions. Everything was taken care of, allowing me to enjoy my time there. She had drivers to take us from place to place, tours of the Vatican, Villa d’Este, Hadrian’s Villa, the Monastery of St. Lorenzo, and a boat ride to the Blue Grotto. Liana set up personal guides so we did not have to wait in long lines. Lines were wrapped around the Vatican. Glad we didn’t have to wait in that one!Wonderful restaurants to experience the Italian cuisine, the accommodations were absolutely beautiful! She even arranged a cooking class. No details were left unturned!
Liana has been traveling to Italy for many years. You can see her expertise in planning an unforgettable trip! Her company offers so many personable services that a larger travel company lacks. My second trip in 2017 was just as amazing.

Whirlwind In Rome

Liana did a wonderful job scheduling 3 different tours for 4 of us while in Rome!The "Golf Cart Tour" was great fun with a great guide and lots of laughs!
Afternoon tours of the Vatican and the Forum and Coliseum with Margarita were filled with her expertise and knowledge...especially since she was an actual archeologist and could answer every question that we asked her!

Liana was very thorough from start to finish regarding this trip to make it perfect in every way. Her attention to detail ensured that all possibilities regarding transportation, restaurants, food selections, tourist attractions, shopping, and tour guides were considered and that they stayed within our budget restrictions. She was always available to answer questions prior to, as well as, during the trip if the need arose. The final itinerary was complete with all the details of each day's activities along with a specific timeline for that day. A lot of Italy was covered on this journey, and the eight of us who covered it together all agree--it was "A Trip of a Lifetime"!

I absolutely loved working with Liana, during the planning of our first trip to Italy. Our trip was fantastic start to finish thanks to Italiana Travel Design. She spent so much time finding out exactly what kind of experience we hoped to have during our first trip to Italy. She took a wish, a dream, and a hope and made it come to life. Out 18 day trip to Rome, Florence, Venice, Bologna, Santa Margherita, Carrera and a few other short stops was everything we had hoped for and a 1000 times more!!

Liana is such a good listener and able to evaluate what we wanted in our trip. Her level of detail is spot on! There was no wasting our valuable time trying to figure out who, when, or where. Liana is amazing! Thee is truly no other way to describe her attention to detail, amazing Italian connections, knowledge and experience. We took a 15 day Italy trip in July and it was incredible! Every tour guide, driver and stop was perfect because Liana personally experienced each one herself. Every tour guide knew and loved her which made our tour that more personable and amazing! We did a good deal of "non touristy" adventures such as truffle hunting with dogs, then going back to a bed and breakfast where an Italian family taught us all including my 10 year old how to make homemade pasta. Such memories that Liana made possible! Thank you Liana for listening to our wants and delivering a trip of a lifetime! We can't wait to go back!!!!

Liana was fantastic. She prepared us so well before our trip in the winter of 2014 and the guides were all awesome - they went out of their way to help us every single day. We would use them again on our next visit. The directions she sent ahead of time were great especially for a family with small children and not knowing much Italian. Liana's suggestions were also really unique sometimes, but they provided a lot of great food, great company, great locations, great transportation, and great memories . Unique, Seamless & Even More Than Our Dreams!

We cannot thank Liana & all at Italiana Travel Design enough for our beautiful, dream vacation of a lifetime! From the start, we could tell that our trip would be unique & hand-catered to our liking. After my initial searches for Italy tours/itineraries, I didn’t know this was possible! Liana brought my dreams (and then some) into reality. Her process works. When we got our general itinerary I was blown away by how much attention was paid to even minor details. The trip planning was smooth and seamless, and required very minimal effort on our part - which was a relief! The final itinerary is so well drawn out & organized, we felt at ease the entire trip - almost like having Liana there with us through each leg of our journey. Our repeat heritage trip

Liana, once again, put together a wonderful vacation agenda for us. This was the second trip that she designed for us. We had but a few requirements for this trip and left the rest up to her. Liana worked with our family in Italy to construct time for reconnecting and exploration. We reconnected with family in Rocca Di Mezzo and were escorted to unique places within Tuscany, Umbria, Abruzzi, and the Le Marche regions of Italy. Our guides introduced us to unique experiences, much off the beaten path. The guides that accompanied us enabled us to learn about some of the history with various Chieti and Basilicas throughout the regions, along with gaining access to some unique artisans. Liana has a great network of guides, drivers, and interpreters. We are very comfortable with giving Liana the lead in designing our trips.
Liana is incredibly customer focused and is extremely attentive to our needs.

Lifelong Dream Realized
As early as the late 1950's, while sitting with my Grandmother, crocheting her lovely, intricate creations and sharing her many beautiful memories of her small, mountainous village, I knew I neede to visit the homeland of my ancestors. Thanks to Italiana Travel Design, all this and more, was accomplished! The sights and experiences of our 15 day itinerary were unimaginable. My childhood dream came true! We would like to express our sincere gratitude for all of your personal assistance. Meeting us in Assisi and taking us first to Guardiaregia, and then to Sorrento was such a unique experience. Another highlight of our journey was being able to pray in the church of San Nicola where my Grandparents received the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion, Confirmation and Matrimony. To visualize these ceremonies which had taken place more than a century before, was truly amazing. How very fortunate we were to have you accompany us as a knowledgeable, truly remarkable guide and translator.

Two Trips Beyond Compare
My wife and I have had the pleasure of working with Liana on multiple occasions. The first was our honeymoon in 2009. We were so pleased with the experience that we used Liana a second time, with results that lived up to our already high expectations! First, we always received very prompt and personable service. Second, our flights were arranged to maximize our rest and pleasure so that we could fully take advantage of our time. Third, we had the option of seeing sites that aren't common to "typical" tour groups. Fourth, we have always had outstanding accommodations. Finally, we've been very impressed with Liana's logistical acumen as all of our activities have been properly arranged. During one visit, we showed our itinerary to a relative who lived in country. She was relieved and impressed that our travel designer had done such a fine job of thoughtfully taking care of us! Perfect Honeymoon (June 2011)
Liana planned everything out for us perfectly. We did a lot of moving from place to another and traveled by every possible means of transportation (except camel!) She prepared us very well for European travel and we were able to go from place to place confidently. We also had enough flexibility to go and do what we wanted in each place each day. All the mundane details were taken care of, which truly helped up just enjoy being there. Thank You!
