Born to Greek immigrant parents and a mom who is blind, my entire life has revolved around guiding & hospitality. We traveled a lot growing up. Each road trip was about exploring & sharing. As I grew older, each journey got longer, more intricate & more memorable than the last.
This passion continued & I've been committed to providing travelers with peace of mind, quality service & amazing memories professionally for over 20 years. I launched The Travel Nook® in 2014 & am very fortunate to work with the most reputable hoteliers, airlines, cruise lines, tour providers & transportation suppliers. This is especially important as now travel has changed forever. I am privileged to work with amazing global teams & continuously research, educate myself & inspect destinations to bring you the most current developments, travel trends & best product for your travel needs.

How about the joy of booking a child's trip, their college venture, honeymoon & then new family trip? How wonderful to be part of a family's history as they grow! Ria helped me book a trip to Singapore in July 2017. She was great! She even helped me find a cheaper flight than I had found when searching for the dates I was looking for. When receiving our tickets in the mail, Ria gave me the heads up that I should receive them, and had everything covered in the package. The tickets came in an organizer, where I was able to store all our important papers for the trip. It even had a checklist of what to pack to make sure we did not forget anything on our trip. This was very useful to us, as there were things on the list we hadn't even thought to bring originally. The package even included luggage tags for our suitcases. I've worked with many travel agents before, and none of them were as knowledgeable and helpful as Ria was for our trip.

Perfect Girls Getaway

The best in good times and bad

Ria has been a godsend both when things go right and when they go wrong. We like to take our married children and their families on vacation with us, and Ria has coordinated several trips for the 12 of us, with tremendous attention to detail. When our 2020 cruise to the Caribbean had tome canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic, she was no less attentive. She coordinated our refunds, followed up and made sure website everything that was coming to us. Lots of people can be good when they are making money, but Ria was great even when she was losing money with all the cancellations. I Highly recommend Ria Maratheftis.

A LIFE SAVER!

Initially I was going to book my trip to Ireland on my own but decided to use Travel Nook. Smartest thing I ever did! I got the lowest fairs possible. Ria's excellent advice saved me time, money, and complications. I had to contact her at crazy hours, and she was always available. I was able to count on her for last minute changes and hassles. This was a rather complicated trip and Ria took ALL the stress away!

White Glove Service!

I received advice a long time ago to surround yourself with best-in-class service providers, whether it be a doctor, CPA, etc. Ria is our Travel Partner and I can't rave enough about the white glove service we received from her. Being our first time to Cancun as a family of 6, we had reservations about leaving the country in 2017. She listened to our concerns and explained how an all-inclusive would fit our family best. Ria planned the trip from A to Z and everything went smoothly. The resort was amazing and our accommodations are still the gold standard of what our kids consider as a vacation.
In 2019, we hoped to take a trip to Greece. Ria again listened to what we were trying to accomplish and suggested that we were trying to fit in too much in one summer given athletic and camp schedules (at the detriment of her losing business).
In 2020 Ria planned the trip of a lifetime to Greece. Due to COVID we had to postpone but we will definitely will be calling her when the time is righ

We have come to rely on and appreciate the expertise that Ria provides as our travel counselor.....giving us guidance and suggestions while booking our trips with efficiency. It is wonderful to know that she "has our back" and will contact us when needed at the appropriate times to insure that our payments are made, our flights are booked and our documents are in hand for a hassle free travel experience. This was the case when we recently took a Collette trip to Portugal and she also helped us plan an extended itinerary in Lisbon. We have already planned our 2019 river cruise with her help!

From start to finish, Ria and the Travel Nook were ultimate professionals. She planned a cruise in a limited time frame for my family of 16. Ria has a wealth of knowledge and she was always willing to answer any or all of our questions and concerns. Ria's attention to detail for 16 people of various ages was outstanding. She personalized the trip of all of our needs. She even made sure the youngest traveler felt special by having his birthday celebrated by the staff. Ria to the Rescue

My husband and I have planned our vacations with Ria of The Travel Nook several times. Most recently, we took a cruise with all of our children, grandchildren and significant others. After locking everything in for a cruise to the Bahamas, my daughter announced that she was pregnant and her doctor told her not to travel to the Caribbean because of the Zika virus. Ria was able to reschedule the entire group on a cruise to Bermuda instead without costing us extra money. We enjoyed the vacation of a lifetime, thanks to the Travel Nook. I can't even imagine working with anyone else.

2nd Surprise Honeymoon...Success!

As the recipient of this surprise trip I rate the trip, the itinerary and Ria's availability across the states A+++. We arrived at 8:00pm local time and she was responsive with a solution to our concern about the airport shuttle; seriously! How many travel agents are awake awaiting the safe arrival of their travelers? The week was planned as I would have planned it and I am a fanatical trip planner when I go away. We got to see all the key sites on Ria's recommended tours, without incident. The room of our hotel (centrally located in the Financial District) hosted the most amazing view of the city; we settled in and rose to the view of Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge; breathtaking and hard to leave after a week! Seeing Alcatraz was on my bucket list; The Travel Nook met and exceeded my expectations of our trip to San Francisco. This was a trip my husband and I needed and it was planned to perfection. This is our 2nd trip with the Travel Nook and definitely not our last.

Requirements and Expectations were NOT MET!

A 27 person family vacation celebrating a 60th wedding anniversary, and two 80th birthdays. Needless to say, an important event! We were booked at an all-inclusive in Punta Cana with poor service across the board, awful food in every restaurant, and numerous room issues that Ria failed to address. Several family members became sick including the matriarch of the family after eating at her anniversary dinner. She was unable to leave her room for the last 4 days of her vacation. The Travel Nook, clearly failed to understand our family's needs and expectations, and thus, the vacation we were all looking forward to and worked so hard to attend was a disaster!

Ria recently helped my family with planning for a road trip from New York City to Sarasota, Florida. She has a warm friendly personality and she approached out trip with a true feeling of caring about our needs. Her recommendations regarding restaurants and attractions along the way were completely on point and added to our enjoyment. She even gave us packing tips and recommended a navigation app which we found very useful. She was quick to respond to questions by email or phone calls. Ria is charming and knowledgeable and I will definitely seek her expertise on my next trip.

Nice family trip to Universal Studios, Island of Adventure, City Walk, Legoland and Disney Springs. Lots of information and recommendations provided. Brochures forwarded ahead of time to help with planning along with dining suggestions. Detailed review of rides and shows as well as a "game plan" for tackling the crowded parks. Would highly recommend The Travel Nook and Ria! Thanks for helping our family with ALL the planning.

Our school went on the Lancaster & Hershey Park School Graduation Trip. Ria made the planning so simple and easy for me on the school end. She explained everything form A-Z to our parents and staff. Ria, researched our options, handled all the bookings and arranged our flights and hotels. She provides exceptional customer service and offers a personalized touch. If she doesn't know something she will tell you and then go get the answer. Our trip was uneventful which is a good thing. Everything went smoothly and all hotels and flights were as described. My Daughters Sweet Sixteen

From the minute I step on the plane until I came home my family trip was outstanding. Ria put together a package together for my daughter Sweet 16. It was everything my daughter wanted. Everywhere we went we were given the royal treatment, we had no issues, and they were waiting for us. My son has a peanut allergy and every place we ate knew it and took care of my son, And that is why you would choose Ria as your agent. I have been on many family vacations but by far this was the least one I had to worry about because Ria was in charge of the entire trip. I felt completely relaxed.
