IMMERSIVE TRAVEL IN LATIN AMERICA & THE US WEST

I offer authentic, meaningful travel experiences in the Western US and national parks, where diverse landscapes and vibrant cities backdrop colorful local customs and traditions. From New Mexico’s high desert mountains to Washington’s fog-shrouded evergreens, you’ll never tire of exploring the West. I also specialize in trips to Latin America, all the way to Patagonia’s End of the World. I’ve traveled and lived throughout the region and am convinced nowhere on earth offers a richer experience. You can wake up to the sounds of the jungle and fall asleep to the crashing of waves, and fill the day in between with everything from archaeology to adventure to acupuncture; shops, surfing, and sloths. Multi-generational trips might be my favorite to plan—travel creates the best family memories. For peace of mind, know that my background is in risk analysis and crisis response, and I take your safety and wellbeing seriously. Thanks for trusting me to bring your travel dreams to life.

First trip to Puerto Rico

Reviewed By SarahB - Prescott, AZ | Traveled to Puerto Rico ~ Caribbean
Blake's first-hand knowledge of Puerto Rico was invaluable as he helped us plan our trip. We saw places most tourists don't go, like an organic farm in the mountains where we sampled tropical fruits right off the trees. And when the adventure course we wanted to do got flooded out, Blake found an alternative that was just as good. We planned on staying right in San Juan but after talking with Blake decided to stay in a quieter area on the beach. After visiting San Juan we knew immediately he was right. It was so good to return to the hotel for peace and quiet everyday. Blake was very responsive and attentive and I would definitely recommend him.

CA road trip

Reviewed By Ashraf - Albuquerque, NM | Traveled to California ~ USA
We had ten days to see California- not that much time when you think about how big it is. We had a few must-do activities, such as Disneyland and a studio tour, the redwoods, Joshua Tree, and the Bay Area. Blake put together a fantastic road trip itinerary, north-south, and peppered the trip with more outings and experiences, as well as a good amount of relaxing time. The kids loved Disney, of course, but they also really liked Alcatraz, which Blake had recommended. He even emailed a road trip kids activity packet before our departure, with fun games to entertain the kids on the highway.

Olympic National Park Family Reunion

Reviewed By Terry - Palm Springs, CA | Traveled to Olympic National Park ~ Washington ~ USA
Blake arranged my family reunion at Olympic National Park. We had nine adults and six kids, most of us were from out of state. Blake coordinated all transportation and our lodging in Quinault. We took the very to get there- very cool. Blake put together an itinerary so we could do the least amount of driving to get from place to place. The Hoh Rainforest was a highlight, as was Ruby Beach, and of course Hurricane Ridge. So much variety, and so beautiful. We also had lots of hangout time at the lakeside lodge. We were all very happy with our trip.

Birding Fun in Ecuador

Reviewed By Michael J. - Renton, WA | Traveled to Ecuador ~ South America
Blake planned my anniversary visit to Ecuador. We had two weeks and wanted to see a wide variety of places, but the most important thing for my wife and me was birds. Blake suggested visits to the Amazon, the mountains, and the coast, with designated bird watching excursions in each region. It turned out to be a great way to sample the wide variety of bird life that Ecuador's famous for. We saw nearly everything- boating trips from a lodge near Zamora were especially successful. I'm grateful for Blake's guidance.

A week in Seattle

Reviewed By Geoff - Carlsbad, CA | Traveled to Seattle ~ Washington ~ USA
I asked Blake to plan a week of family activities in the Seattle area leading up to an Alaskan cruise (I already made the Cruise arrangements). My kids are seven and ten, both boys- I knew there were a lot of things in the area that they'd enjoy doing, but my wife and I didn't want to do kid stuff the whole week. Blake made an effort to learn our interests and priorities and put together a fantastic intinerary, including contingencies for bad weather. We saw the Mariners play, took two separate ferry rides, including one to Widbey Island where we explored an old fort, visited some great museums, saw the market in Seattle, went hiking on Mount Rainier, and so much more. Some of our favorite moments were the little thing like neighborhood parks and pools and local coffee shops. We never would have experienced those without Blake's guidance.

Geezers in the Galapagos

Reviewed By Dennis O'Rourk - Eugene, Oregon | Traveled to Galapagos Islands ~ Ecuador ~ South America
Blake made all the arrangements for our "senior scientists" trip to the Galapagos. We didn't want to take a cruise, so it was a little more complicated. But Blake planned our stay on Santa Cruz, and it was the perfect location. Those of us who wanted to took boat tours during the day, but we didn't have to sleep on them! Everyone should visit the Galapagos if they can, and you should plan your trip with Blake!

A weekend on Maui

Reviewed By Dennis - Camp Verde, AZ | Traveled to Hawaii ~ USA
A good friend was getting married on Maui, but my wife and I aren't beach people. We never would have chosen Hawaii except for this wedding. Blake was not daunted by planning a Maui trip that didn't include the beach. He found us a quiet hotel in the upcountry, with beautiful mountain views and a nice hiking trail. We visited the Haleakala volcano at dawn one more, and drove the road to Hana, stopping for multiple hikes. We visited a nice lavender farm too- I didn't realize so much of Maui is agricultural. We had an awesome visit and didn't step on a beach once.

Alaska with three generations

Reviewed By Mary Olin - Graham, WA | Traveled to Alaska ~ USA
A friend member recommended Blake for our family vacation (three generations). We wanted to go to Alaska but I DO NOT LIKE BOATS so we didn't know the best way to see the best variety. Blake listened to all of our wish lists, including my teenage grandkids, and drafted an itinerary that was driveable from Anchorage because I also do not like small airplanes. We did end the trip in Juneau, which was very nice, and the flight from Anchorage was on a normal plane. Some things we did were fishing (not me!), seeing a mine, lots of hiking, trekking out onto a glacier, and scenic drives. It all came together really well.

Grand Canyon

Reviewed By LindA Todd - Boise, Idaho | Traveled to Arizona ~ USA
My husband and I wanted to visit the Grand Canyon and Zion National Parks with my sister in law and her husband, and see some other sites in the southwest. My husband's family are all sports fans, especially the Cowboys, and Blake got tickets for us to start the trip by watching the Cowboys play the Arizona Cardinals. It was a surprise for them and they loved it- Cowboys won. The next day we took a shuttle from Phoenix to Flagstaff, where we stayed downtown. We visited the observatory where Pluto was discovered, which was way more interesting than I expected. The sky was amazing. We took a train to the Grand Canyon and spent the whole day there, then joined up with our tour group that drove us to Zion and Arches. Our whole trip was seven days. It went perfectly, even the weather- cold, but dry.

I was nervous to visit South America for the first time but my daughter really wanted to go. Blake made us feel so confident and prepared. He even helped us when there was a mixup with our COVID tests last minute at the airport that could have cost us a couple days of our trip. Blake even gave us suggestions on what to order at restaurants based on what we like- helpful, since we were unfamiliar with the local food, and told us what tea to drink when the altitude made me sick. Grand Canyon Getaway

Reviewed By Pam'n'Derrick - Missoula, Mt | Traveled to Arizona ~ USA
Blake planned an amazing Grand Canyon getaway for me and my husband! We weren't sure how to best use the time we had (only two days). Blake's local to the area and had so many suggestions. He ended up booking us on the Grand Canyon Railway, which was so much fun. He even told us the best place to go for our "first look," away from the railway crowd. We spent the night at the historic hotel and hiked on Bright Angel trail early the next morning. We were able to ride back to Williams on that afternoon's train, even though that's not the normal arrangement. It was an incredible visit.
