I joined the Navy in 1990 to travel the world. Young ideas often fall short when limited by restraints we put on ourselves. The military, although a wonderful growing experience, let me see places I would otherwise not have seen coming from a small town in Ga. But, I buried my head in work, and missed a lot of opportunities to travel. Since then, I have spent 27 years teaching young people in all grade levels from elementary, middle, and high, to even College level courses, how important travel is to their overall education. And when they ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I tell them... a traveler.
In my life I have gone above and beyond for my young family members to ensure they did not miss a single chance to travel. My niece caught the bug from me early and has lived in places all over the US, with no hesitation to live in other countries, if the chance arises. My granddaughter is now a world class traveler, doing Study Abroad programs whenever she can (and I can afford it). When we get home from any trip, she is already plotting the next one.
During the school year, I am required to facilitate creative ways to get children to do things they do not want to do. But when I decided to retire, I want to work in a dream job that would allow me to help people (including children) to do things they want to do and I jumped into being a Travel Advisor. Although not retired from teaching yet, I love every opportunity I can get to help someone travel. In my heart, I know it is the best education anyone can get.
I love adventure.
Jumping into travel adventures
As a life time athlete and long time PE teacher/Coach, adventure is my favorite. As I get older, I am encouraging as many young people as I can to use their time wisely. XCaret was the most fun our family has had and we plan on taking all of our young and older family members there throughout the years.
