Experiencing the different cultures of other countries is one of my favorite things about traveling. There’s nothing like experiencing the Canadians constant “eh” in conversation, the Bahamian accent, and the head nod in India that is surprisingly contagious.

When I was in Argentina spending a summer there in my early 20’s, I’ll never forget the first time a stranger greeted me with a kiss on the cheek. It became fairly normal and something I gladly welcomed. Also, sharing the communal "drink of mate" was something different for me, but brought a sense of community that was very special.

Another reason I love to travel is for the beauty! The Mayan ruins on the gorgeous cliffs of Tulum, the colors of the women’s sarees decorating the landscape and cities of India, the dreamlike Cliffs of Moher, and the unforgettable Highlands of Scotland, which is a truly magical place.

The hospitality of many countries I’ve been to has been surprising and humbling. The graciousness of London strangers in helping me navigate the confusing London Underground, the openness of the Scottish and Irish people, and the welcoming homes and delicious chai in India. I’m convinced almost anywhere can feel like home and family.
