Also known as the Riviera Maya, the Mexican Riviera spans the western coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Stretching 75 miles from the seaside village of Puerto Morelos (south of Cancun) to Punta Allen (which is known for its spiny lobster and fly fishing), the Riviera area offers an idyllic escape from the regular nine-to-five workday. That is why I love to represent this part of Mexico. It offers many possibilities to experience the wonderful culture and people of Mexico. As a Mexican Riviera/Riviera Maya travel agent professional, I can plan a holiday customized to your likes and preferences. Whether you seek fun, rest, or relaxation, I can add places like Playa del Carmen, Akumal, Puerto Aventuras, or Tulum to your travel itinerary. For example, you might consider taking a fly fishing vacation in Punta Allen. If so, I can arrange the transfers to and from the nearest airport in Cancun. It takes about 3 ½ hours to drive to your destination. You’ll love both the fishing and food. Freshly caught seafood are regularly served in dishes that feature grouper, shrimp al “Mojo de Ajo” paella, lobster (in season), and fish soup. If you want to take a seafood break, you can also enjoy chicken fajitas in a traditional sauce, chili con carne, chili rellenos, and barbeque specialties featuring arrachera beef. You can also get your fill of chorizo sausage or T-bone steak. Top off your dining adventure with a homemade dessert like mango cake. Collectively, the Mexican Riviera is made up of 20 lagoons and cities that lie on Mexico’s west coast. While the distances between the cities is notable, the area is known as Riviera Maya because of its numerous oceanfront resorts and popularity with tourists. Cruise ships frequently visit three to four of the ports on longer cruises. The “Mexican Riviera” is coined in the travel industry as a cruise area because of its association with cruises to Italy and France. So, this is one Caribbean cruise you’ll want to add to your bucket list. If you’re interested in history, I recommend taking a trip to the historic center of Mazatlan or if you want to savor beach life and Mexican cuisine, I’d suggest taking a trip to Puerto Vallarta. You can also take part in various water activities - activities that include fun pursuits like fishing, paddleboarding, snorkeling, and kayaking. You can arrange any of these activities or destinations by allowing me to take care of all the details. That way, all you’ll have to do is look forward to your trip. Let’s take a look at some of the places you may want to include on your Mexico Riviera travel itinerary. Ensenada Ensenada, also called the “Cinderella of the Pacific,” is both a major port and resort town on the cruise ship routes. Its vibrant nightlife, eco-friendly activities like whale watching, and gorgeous beaches are all well-known in the travel industry. Sitting on the Baja Peninsula, Ensenada is within easy driving distance from the United States border. Acapulco Besides Brazil, you’ll also find Acapulco in Mexico. This Mexican Riviera city lies in the state of Guerro and is known as one of Mexico's oldest resort destinations. It is famous the world over for its nightlife and its celebrated restaurants and hotels. Cabo San Lucas Located on the tip of the Baja Peninsula, Cabo San Lucas offers a relaxing holiday. The ideal retreat is both scenic and restful. Not only can you enjoy the sea but you also can appreciate the desert landscape and mountain scenery. Punta Mita This travel gem is found in the enchanting Mexican state of Nayarit. It is a haven for the rich and famous and for vacationers seeking exclusive accommodations and breathtaking beaches. Both private villas and world-class resorts stud the coast of Punta Mita, which has a postcard-like setting. Whether you like water sports or call yourself a sun worshiper, you’ll find Punta Mita the perfect holiday escape. Manzanillo Manzanillo is located in the state of Colima where it sits on two bays. It is known internationally as the “Sailfish Capital of the world. If you love sport fishing, you might direct your sights here. Historically, the port once was known for piracy, so many scuba divers come to Manzanillo to explore the sea wrecks off the coast. Puerto Vallarta Puerto Vallarta, located on Banderas Bay, offers something for everyone - from eco-friendly activities to spas, beaches and interior day trips and attractions. Whether you plan a cruise trip or you decide on traveling to a specific location, I am ready, as your travel agent professional for the Mexican Riviera, to help you plan an amazing vacation. Give me a call today so we can start planning your holiday. The temperatures are tourist-friendly throughout the year, so anytime is a good time to plan a trip and travel to Riviera Maya.
