What every group planner should be!

I am part of a travel club for a large community, and first met Michael when we contacted him to do an Italy tour for a group of up to 45 people. We have had many agencies and tour companies before, but the way Michael presented for us was like nothing we had ever seen. His presentation in front of 500 members of our club was so successful that the tour sold out in 3 days and had a waiting list.He came for another presentation for our group to finalize everything, and finally the tour happened. I have been to Italy many times, and this was the best we have ever experienced. The Vatican at night after it closed, our luggage waiting in our rooms with each hotel change, personalized gifts at each location, a sense of friendship along the way. It was more than perfect. Like no other tour we had ever been on.
He is now the only person we use for our groups. Cruises, tours, and more. We are currently planning a large group cruise with him, and a tour in Portugal for next year.

The only person for luxury cruises!

I love luxury cruises, and before I started planning with Michael, my husband and I didn’t feel comfortable doing excursions not offered by the cruise line. But on many occasions, Michael would organize private experiences for us that brought us to places we never would have experienced through the normal excursions. It has changed the way we see the world. When he plans a cruise for us, he also plans wonderful experiences when we are in port. It makes our cruise 100% better every time. When we get back on our ship and speak with others, they are always fascinated by the things we did, and wonder how we knew to do it. That is when I simply give them Michael’s email.

I've now had Michael plan three trips for me, one of which was two back to back cruises, and previously vacations run by his own company, Culture Discovery in Italy. In all the time I have known him, it is clear that he deeply cares about my experiences, and will goes way out of his way to make sure every part of my trip is better than I can ever expect. He has talked me out of trips that he would make much more money on because he just cares that my vacation is right for me. What can be better than that?

Celebrity Luxury Caribbean Cruise

I never thought to have Michael plan cruises for me until recently, since I always took his tours in Italy Then I saw that he does full-service travel, especially luxury cruises. When I wanted to take a cruise on Celebrity Cruises, I contacted Michael and he took care of everything. I am so thankful to him for the services his company provides! He puts in so much time, energy and thoughtfulness to make sure everything is just perfect. He is always incredibly easy to contact and responds to my texts almost instantly. I wonder if he sleeps? He even gave me an app for my iPhone, and it had every detail of my itinerary perfectly organized. I didn't have to think of a thing. During my cruise, he contacted me to be sure everything was well, and afterward, he checked in on me to see how it all went. It was fantastic, and I will never use anyone else. Wherever you go in the world, be it on a cruise, a resort, or one of his company's tours, I strongly recommend Michael and his team.

I met Michael after booking one of his company's tours through another travel agent. My agent booked his tour, as well as other travel for me in Italy. When Michael saw my arrival information, he saw major problems in my itinerary, and contacted my agent to help her correct mistakes. My agent was unresponsive, so he contacted me. My agent had rain travel within Italy for me that was going to cause me to spend dozens of unnecessary hours on trains, making near impossible connections. He completely reworked my itinerary for me (at no charge) in order to save me lots of time, connections and money. Since I was working with an agent, he told me to give the agent this info so SHE could book it for me. When I finally contacted her, she became very defensive, but I did some searching on my own and could tell that Michael was right. She booked the revised itinerary for me, but ever since I have had Michael handle ALL of my travel plans, and he has been wonderful. Now I tell everyone!

We have been working with Michael on out trips for years. He has handled groups for our travel club for cruises, Europe tours, and my personal travel with my family, as well as my business trips. He is great to work with, and I would swear he never sleeps because he answers my emails and texts so quickly, wherever he is. He leaves nothing to chance is is always there when I need him. Unique Experiences & Great Service

I have traveled with Michael three times and I have had an excellent experience with all three trips. All details are taken care of from the moment we arrived at the destination airport until we got back on the plane to return home. The accommodations and locations have been excellent and varied. The experiences with local producers, cooking classes, visits to wineries are like none other….fun, intimate and relaxing. You will feel like family on these trips. Every host has been amazing and so helpful. The communication prior to each trip has always been thorough and prompt with a complete set of instructions and detailed itinerary. My last trip was 10/2021 when COVID was still a huge concern. I was kept up to date on all requirements and changes before and throughout the trip. Michael talked us through it all, promised us a trip to remember and delivered! Return trip testing was also arranged. Truly no worries. My next trip with Michael is already booked for 2023. Can’t wait.

Navigated us through our Covid travels!

Covid got in the way of my 2020 trip, and Michael told me not to worry, he would take care of everything. He had planned many of our travels in the past, so we had good reason to trust him.With all of the changing rules, Michael was on top of it, making sure we knew exactly what to expect and how to prepare. He even knew about many of the changes before they were officially announced.
The day before our trip, Michael told me to get tested right away. My airline said it was not needed, but he insisted, and even found the closest place for me to get tested right away. He was in Florida, and I was in Ohio! That night, an email from the airline airline said we needed the test! That would have been too late and we would have missed the flight!
The trip was wonderful, and everything went smoothly. Michael stayed on top of everything & saved us from missing our flight, and made sure we knew every detail of navigating different countries during such a crazy time.

Great planning, great advice

Michael is wonderful to work with. If you plan anything with him, he is always going to give you very honest advice, even if that is something you were hoping to hear. When I travel, I usually have a good idea of what I want to see and do. But he sometimes tries to talk me out of my ideas. Every time I didn’t listen to his advice I wish I had. He has traveled much of the world and describes what my experience will be in detail. He knows many of the unknown places that are so much better than the ones we see in photos. He knows when something that seems to be quiet and relaxed has become crowded and ugly.

Michael is simply outstanding! He communicates frequently with potential guests and is extremely responsive. The information he provided us timely, relevant, and right on point! Michael treats his guests as family and not as clients. On our last trip we experienced a 4 hour travel delay which negatively impacted our Rrival into Portugal. With constant communication spanning multiple time zone, Michael secured transport from the airport in Portugal to our final destination. It truly was a worry free experience. Michael ensures his guests are first and foremost in every decision. He assembles unique travel experiences that are far superior to any other trips I've taken. It started out as a part of the Bucket List and ended up as a family of 18 people who understood each other enjoyed each others company and respected each other. Michael has a way of creating experiences wherever we go that end up feeling like home. We have been on several of his trips in Italy and Portugal. He, Rocky and everyone at CDV have also arranged all kinds of other vacations for us, from cruises to an enchanting week for twenty of us based in Bora Bora where we spent time with locals away from the tourists. Michael is the amazing! He has planned vacations for us every year for theist ten years. Ever one have been phenomenal without a glitch. He knows how to make sure everywhere we go, we meet locals that give us an insider experience and become friends. Even on the cruises we have done with him, it seems like he know someone everywhere that does something with us we could never do unless it was through Michael’s private contacts. A unique view of Italy

I have been on a number of trips with Michael. They were all in various locations in Italy. Cooking traditional local foods is the focus of the trip, but there is also so much more. Numerous side trips conducted during the tour range from educational to historical to whimsical to just plain old fun. Oh, and wine, there is always great wine. All have been wonderful experiences and I am looking forward to travelling with Micheal in the future.

It's hard to imagine that each day could possibly be better than the next but Michael and CDV planned a week of activities that was absolutely incredible...the villa was beautiful with a perfect location and lovely rooms. The "staff" (our new family) was so welcoming, warm and gracious and they made the week so much fun...whether we were cooking together, hanging out in the kitchen learning some new tips, singing, dancing and playing instruments in the evening on the terrace with the beautiful night sky as our backdrop, or learning some of the best places to go to shopping for little treasures....they were the best! Sophie, our hostess and guide, was so lovely, organized and such a pleasure...she managed to shepherd the 11 of us to each location, address any concerns and questions we had and just make it a marvelous experience. Each experience made a wonderful memory! Thank you for this incredible experience...I will definitely plan my next trip with you....I can hardly wait! Adventures in Portugal

We were hesitant about going to Portugal. We didn't speak the language or know much about the culture. One (long) discussion with Michael calmed our reservations and encouraged us to experience this new adventure. Where to begin? We were met at the airport and taken to a lovely resort, to relax and recover from our travels. The itinerary looked amazing, including wine tasting, fresh seafood, cooking classes with local chefs and touring the beautiful Douro Valley. We could never have put together such a comprehensive trip on our own but Michael made it all look easy. We will certainly be travelling with Culture Discovery again!

A Thousand times better than expected!

Each day we met new locals on our excursions and they would show up to dinner later in the week. The last night we had over 20 new friends drinking, eating and dancing!!! "All-inclusive" doesn't begin to describe the tours that Michael offers. From the minute we get off the airplane until we sadly say goodbye, every detail is planned and executed perfectly. We found travel with CDV is like travelling with your European family, visiting local festivals, wineries and meeting new friends. Leaving the big cities behind, we go to places and do things other travellers only dream about. We harvest sea salt, make ricotta cheese (which we use in cannoli), hunt for truffles in a forest just to name a few highlights. We return every year to explore another region and enjoy new adventures.

Custom Luxury Tours Done Better than ANYONE!!!

I put together luxury group tours for my community several times a year. We used to use Tauck or Insight for our tours in Europe, then I found Michael’s website. He doesn't resell pre-packaged tours. They are the tour company, and are completely different than the big names. We do many of the sights as others, but he puts us in amazing boutique hotels, and with the normal sights, he incorporates once in a lifetime experiences that are not part of typical tours. The kind of tour they do is a better kind of luxury than any tour company we have used. We get to know locals, we feel part of the place we are in, and there is a bond between Michael’s team, us, and the locals we meet. Plus they never take us to tourist trap stores, they never ask us to pay for anything out of pocket, and they are ALWAYS looking after us. Their prices are close to others like Tauck, but they offer ten times more for what we pay. It is exactly as they say on their website. We become family right away.

Missy is one of the most wonderful people I know. He really care about me and my travels. He always make sure it is better than perfect.. I have worked with Michael for years. He puts everything into every trip, making sure the advice is accrue and the price is the best out there, even if he needs to refer me to someone else and not take a commission. After my trips, he always wants to know everything about them and loves to hear about what a wonderful time I had. Every time there has been a problem, he has been right there taking care of everything that needed to be handled. Whenever my coworkers, family and friends were look for someone to help with travel plans, I always put them in contact with Michael, and everyone has been extremely happy. He is knowledgeable, he listens to my needs and desires, and he always has suggestions based on his own travel experiences.

High Expectations Exceeded! AGAIN
Having read all of the marketing materials, and after speaking with Michael, we had high expectations for our cruise plus Tuscany tour. Those expectations were far exceeded!!! Our accommodations were lovely, cruise and hotel staff very attentive and professional. Amazing custom shore excursions, and the schedule, including cooking classes, was brilliantly organized. While other tourists were visiting "tourist" destinations, we were cooking or out in the countryside at vineyards or the goat farm. We visited the busier tourist locations in the late afternoon, when the crowds were leaving town. To us, this appeared to have been really well thought through and orchestrated for our benefit as a mixture between a cruise and culinary tour. It was truly a fabulous trip, thanks to Michael and his team at Culture Discovery.

My group and personal assessment is a resounding 14 thumbs up! I thoroughly enjoyed my journey and the entire experience. Your entire team displays a wonderful and friendly spirit which engages every participant in such a welcoming and warm environment that all feel a family type friendship that will never diminish. We were blessed with our Multi-talented hostess with the mostest lovely Linda and our absolutely Best Driver on the planet Sergio. Theses two stars turned our transportation into pleasure trips. Lynda’s warmth and genuine sense of humor kept our energy soaring and our laughter roaring. My wife and I have been to Italy on four separate occasions ( She has been 5 times). This trip ranks as our number one Italian experience. The towns and venues we visited which all were more intimate and personable than our past visits. This similarity in their respective intimate identities made the interactions more informative and warm.

Best vacation ever!
This was the most amazing vacation! Michael & Culture Discovery Vacations planned everything out perfectly! From wine tasting with horses, private wine tastings and dinners to tours of cities. The accommodations were great and the cooking classes were wonderful! Our guide Mimo was terrific! He kept us 11 women on schedule which is hard to do! lol Our drivers Katusha and Mauritzio (I know I did not spell those right!) were also great!

Maybe the best trip EVER
I cannot express myself in a way that would tell you how amazing this trip turned out to be. We felt so loved and so welcomed. I knew I would like this trip but I was not aware of how much I would LOVE it. I am in awe of these sweet and generous people who were so eager to share their world with us. Please take this trip with CDV. You will enjoy every moment.
