Family and Adventure Travel Specialist

Hi there! My name is Rachel McDowell and I am an avid world traveler!  I am also a wife, mom to twin boys, and Army veteran.  I am inherently an adventurer and find peace in nature.  I haven't decided if I prefer the beach or the mountains, though (I guess I need to keep exploring until I decide).

I grew up in Portland, OR, did a stint in Arizona, but have ultimately found my way back to the "weird."  I now call the Austin area my home; where jeans and sandals are acceptable everywhere and I can wake up every day to mimosas and breakfast tacos.

Traveling has always spoke to my soul.  Outside of my family, it is truly the thing that brings me the most joy.  I have visited 33 states, 17 countries, and six of the seven continents with plans to visit one more territory and seven new countries in the next year.  From as early on as I can remember, I have always wanted to explore new places and discover what the world has to offer.  I have instilled this same love of travel in my boys, who have already visited seven countries themselves and are amazing world travelers.

My goal is to help you make unforgettable memories through travel with as little stress as possible.  I have two mottos when it comes to travel - It's the small details that separate a good vacation from a fantastic one; and there is no such thing as a bad vacation, just poor planning.  With those two concepts in mind, let's get to traveling!

I contacted Rachel about my plan for travel and she connected with me within a few hours. She asked me key questions concerning my focus and my goals during this period of traveling abroad. She promptly handled the task of researching my Dream Trip, presenting me with several options.

I was trying to plan my solo trip to Tilburg, Netherlands to see The Dire Straits. I was overwhelmed and discouraged. Rachel was highly recommended by my friend at work. I contacted her and she asked me key questions about my goals and plans while traveling abroad. She promptly researched my trip and presented me with several travel options. She also gave me wonderful suggestions, including the nudge to visit Burgess Belgium!

I can’t count the number of trips I haven’t taken because of feeling overwhelmed by the planning process. Working with Rachel took all of that pressure off and our family has a beautiful vacation and made lifelong memories.
