After years as a litigation attorney, I caught a wicked case of the "travel bug". It started out as a means to cope with the stress of the job, and ended with the start of my second career. I have been incredibly fortunate, and have traveled all over the world. I even lived in the South Pacific for two years. Most of my adventures have been in Oceania, Europe, Caribbean and Africa. I LOVE to plan adventures WITH my clients. I always start with a long "cross-examination" of my client to learn what they want from their vacation. ( I used to hate it when I walked into a travel agency and they tried to sell me the "trip of the day", and once they had my booking provided no further service.)
I have extensive experience in planning large destination and cruise ship weddings, cruise family reunions, exotic and adventure honeymoons, African Safaris, European land and cruise combinations, luxury small ship cruises, Luxury River Cruises and bucket list vacations for small groups. I pride myself in providing full service from the moment of our first phone call until you are home from your dream trip. The best part of my job is the call I get when my clients cannot wait to tell me how amazing their dream vacation had been.

Upfront and organized.Travel tours and guides were wonderful. Exception was the Eiffel Tower and River tour. Guide was fun, but was on high speed and difficult to understand. Lost an elderly couple trying to hurry from the late river cruise to the Tower.
People were upset.
Return flight, though on award points was a very long.

Dream Honeymoon

Deciding to have Mary Ann Born plan our honeymoon was one of the best decisions we have ever made. We told Mary Ann we wanted a mix of adventure with relaxation and she made our dream become a reality. From the first moment we talked with Mary Ann we felt excited to be working with her. Her pleasant demeanor and attention to detail was evident in the detailed itinerary she put together . When we received our final packet in the mail from her with our travel schedule, vouchers and notes with her helpful hints, we immediately felt relieved and so happy that we made to decision to work with her. Planning a wedding is stressful enough, so having someone else take care of the honeymoon was priceless. It that wasn’t enough, while traveling to Fiji we learned our flight was canceled and we would then miss our catamaran to the Island. We contacted Mary Ann in a panic and she went above and beyond to make sure our trip would not be negatively impacted. She arranged us a private helicopter to the Island once we landed which ended up being a highlight of our trip! She even helped file our travel claim so we could be reimbursed due to the cancelation. This reminded us of the importance of using a travel agent when traveling to an unknown place. We cannot say enough great things about Mary Ann. Our New Zealand and Fiji honeymoon gave us memories we will have for a lifetime and it was perfect thanks to Mary Ann. We cannot wait until she plans our next great adventure!

It was an absolute pleasure working with Mary Ann. She was extremely helpful from the start of planning our trip until we got home. She was very easy to work with. Always giving suggestions based on what we told her we wanted, but never overstepping. She is very knowledgeable and her experience really helped us quite a bit since we have never traveled very far or for more than a week. We had a few issues with our flights due to the airlines changing the schedules last minute and Mary Ann was easy to contact while we were away despite the 12 hour time difference. She did her best to make our honeymoon as good as it possibly could be. Without her help, our honeymoon wouldn't have been as amazing as it was. She truly is a wonderful travel agent and we absolutely recommend working with her.

It was a delightful and wonderful experience working with Mary Ann! She was always there for us, answering all our questions and always replying to our emails and texts right away. She offered information and advice about particular excursions and set the best ones up for us. Everything went seamlessly! She paid attention to small details and where I have a difficult time walking, set up the perfect hotels. They were centrally located and easier for me to manage getting around. All in all, I can’t say enough. She made this trip to Italy the most wonderful experience! My husband and I can’t wait to work with her planning our next trip!!

She is tremendously invested in her clients; she is very experienced, and makes it her business to go on a variety of cruises so she knows the real deal, and can help you to plan for your particular needs. She is a detail maniac, a crisis-averter, a question-answerer, no matter when or how needed. In preparing for our trip, she gave honest opinions of what she thought would be worth our money, thus ensuring we felt we got great value for the cost; she sent us all necessary documentation early, so any problems could be resolved promptly. She was available to us when we hit a couple of stumbling blocks with vendors mid-voyage (not her fault!) A Perfect Adventure

Mary Ann Born recently provided my husband and I with the most carefree adventure we’ve ever had. Mary Ann planned every detail of our trip to Iceland, including travel insurance, flights, hotel, and tours. She is extremely knowledgeable about the best destinations to visit. She explained all the requirements for entering Iceland and then returning to the US (i.e., Covid-19 testing, travel documents, TSA rules, etc.) and sent reminders to ensure everything was in place. Once we arrived in Iceland, she made certain that all our tours went as planned and when two were cancelled due to weather, she helped us reschedule and then dealt with tour providers to ensure we received refunds. Mary Ann is super organized and doesn’t miss a single detail. She is also a pleasure to work with. We are already talking to her about planning our next trip. Mary Ann Born is a 5-star travel planner; I highly recommend Born to Travel if you want to have the best vacation imaginable.

We reached out to Mary Ann one month prior to our departure date so we weren't sure if she'd have time for us, but she took us on and we are so appreciative that she did! After giving her our kids' ages, and our interests, she came up with a list of activities for each of our destinations and then we chose what we wanted to do. We appreciated the range of activities from tours to dinners to cooking classes. We have already recommended her to all of our friends! Once she finagled everything into an itinerary that would work for us, she sent us a detailed schedule, train tickets, vouchers for tours, and she even included what times to leave our hotel, the best mode of transportation to get places, and how much to tip everyone. We could not have asked for any more and her guidance relieved so much of our anxiety about traveling to Italy (Rome, Florence, Genoa).

Very Special Honeymoon

We had an amazing trip planned to Greece for September 2020. Unfortunately, with COVID we had to cancel our trip. Mary Ann worked with us every step of the way to ensure we handled it the best we could! She was on top of it and all went well! We were so grateful! We were finally able to take our trip to Athens, Mykonos & Santorini. It was beautiful, romantic and adventurous and we are so grateful we were able to take the trip after so much unknown.
With all of our cars, planes, ferries, tours- there truly wasn't one hiccup! Everything was seamless and we had no trouble at all! We are so grateful our sister in law recommended Mary Ann. She was able to piece together all of our thoughts into an actual trip. Our group of 6 ( 2 parents and 4, in their 20’s) traveled from Boston to Lisbon,Seville then Barcelona. Our flights were a good value and well timed. Our hotels accommodated our group perfectly, giving us group space where we could all be together without being on top of each other. When planning Mary Ann provided a number of experiences and activities she thought we may enjoy based on our conversations - and she was spot on. The variety of tours, experiences and activities was just perfect. We added a traveler ( 24 yr old) in Barcelona late in planning and she quickly updated our bookings a hotel, seamlessly . Mary Ann was always accommodating and was available throughout our trip to answer any last minute questions. We are all looking forward to our next opportunity to use Mary Ann’s services again!

We took a cruise from NY to Quebec and it was terrific! Mary Ann took care of everything for us--I only had to take care of packing and getting us to the airport. It was delightful! Flights to and from were convenient; the cruise accommodations were very nice; the shore excursions interesting and suited our abilities. Two extra days in Quebec were enhanced by staying in a lovely hotel walkable to tourist locations, restaurants, and entertainment. We enjoyed the entire trip. We planned a 12-day vacation to Alaska that included land and sea, and lots of travel connections (Alaska is a big place and we moved by plane, boat, and rail so a lot to plan). Mary Ann was fantastic about making recommendations for tours/excursions (all of which we took and had no regrets). Most importantly, Mary Ann was extremely organized. We knew exactly what needed to be booked at what time to make sure our vacation included everything we wanted. Once we actually left on the trip, we had an extremely detailed itinerary with exactly where we needed to be and the info we needed. I cannot recommend Mary Ann and Born to Travel more highly.

Our Amazing Africa Adventure

This is our 4th trip that Mary Ann has coordinated for us and she continues to always exceed our expectations! Her recommendations based on her prior experiences and detailed research have been the most important ingredient to our unforgettable trips. She has planned 2 European vacations, a 4 weeks experience in Australia and New Zealand, and this last 3 weeks incredible adventure in Africa! All of our flights(16 in all) were well-timed and managed by her and our motor transfers were there with excellent guides to assist us navigate our excursions and sight-seeing. While we were enjoying our time there, she spent hours trying to track my lost bag which the airlines had neglected to fly with us! On each trip prior to leaving she had us well-prepared with important documents, detailed itineraries, and appropriate clothing recommendations.We have referred several of our friends to her for their travels and they too have been very pleased with the care and service she has provided.

Our trip through Central Europe. Mary Ann Born is an extraordinarily knowledgeable travel agent, , something I had heard from friends and colleagues, but now we have experienced just what a difference this can make to us and our travel experience. I was reluctant to consider a river cruise but Mary Ann convinced us that we would likely have a great time in all aspects. She was SO right. She also patiently listened to all our questions and answered all concerns., mainly becauset we had never traveled in Central Europe. Everything went very smoothly. In addition, our flight arrangements were better than normal due to Mary Ann's experience.Some of the sites and towns we visited were suggested by Mary Ann and my husband and I would now say we are so glad we took her advice and didn't miss them! It was a fabulous trip!

But, the best part is that she loves working with moms (as I found out when she booked my mom's first-ever international flight). Mary Ann was an amazing person to work with for planning our honeymoon! Between full-time jobs and wedding planning, my husband and I didn't have much time to dedicate to researching the best places to stay and things to do on our trip to Fiji. Mary Ann made everything so easy! She was incredibly knowledgable about the region and was quick to respond to all our questions. Mary Ann handled all the details of our trip from booking flights and hotels to scheduling daily excursions. She also talked to us about what to expect and made sure we were very prepared. I had always done the planning for my own trips and for those for my partner and me, but the trip to Central Eastern Europe--including a Viking cruise--and then to the UK was getting far too complicated for me. I had heard from friends about Mary Ann Born's prowess in trip planning, so we engaged her. It quickly proved to be the right decision. Mary Ann offered up great suggestions for routings, hotels, transport, trip insurance, etc. Hotels suggested by her in Prague and Budapest were marvelous and moderately priced. Our Prague hotel looked out at the Vltava River and Charles Bridge and came with a bonus: Starz used our street to film a movie both days we were there! Sorry, no movies in Budapest, but just a block away from the Danube and great sights.
Mary Ann knew the ins and outs of booking with Viking and saved us some money there. She delivered a packet of information, vouchers, reservations, maps, etc. and a great check-off list of things to take before the trip that allowed us to easily move through the month long trip with no problems. When we did have a question, she responded to our email quickly.
Her knowledge and experience were invaluable in getting us there and back easily and joyfully. She and Born To Travel are a treasure.

First of all I would like to thank Mary Ann and her husband at Born To Travel, for the trip of a lifetime I just came home from a 17 day trip to Turkey, Italy and Greece,3 days were spent in Rome,11 night cruise and ending with 3 nights in beautiful Venice, in which every detail was taken care by Mary Ann all reservations, hotel rooms, tours, tips, food, drink packages, Flights and Cruise accommodations, Mary Ann and her husband Jeff accompanied our tour of 12. Not only were they wonderful company I feel I made two new friends, I will certainly call Born To Travel again it was the easiest vacation I ever planned Mary Ann did everything I just had to show up. Thank you both for an amazing trip and many laughs.

Working with Mary Ann was great. She had a ton of knowledge about Italy, including the best ways to get there, to travel around, and things to do. I gave her some info on what things my husband and I are in to, as well as what we aren't. She made us an itinerary that was so perfect and totally matched everything we wanted. She also included a list of helpful tips of things to do before the trip to get ready. She was very easily accessible via phone and email, and always got to back to us with an answer to our questions. I can't recommend her enough, and would most definitely use her again.

Where do I start. Mary Ann was just awesome from planning to execution. She met with me and my wife to plan my 50th birthday celebration. Mary Ann is an amazing woman! She plans trips so that all you have to do is answer questions about what you want to do, decide when she presents you with the options, and then pack your suitcase! She does all the planning and makes al the arrangements, which makes it possible for you to just enjoy the actual trip. She has contacts with excellent tour guides everywhere, which means you learn and see the best in every location. I have traveled on her trips to Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean--there has never been an issue in any of my trips. I cannot recommend her highly enough--and she is also particularly adept at planning family reunion vacations--on a cruise ship or in a rental vacation property. You will not be disappointed with Mary Ann and Born to Travel!

We just returned from another excellent cruise arranged by Mary Ann Born from
Born to Travel. Vacations should be fun and hassle-free and Mary Ann goes above
and beyond from the moment of your initial contact. She is a knowledgeable,
friendly professional that takes all the worry out of your travels starting with
the initial check in process to disembarking, from scheduling shows, email
reminders for excursions, and setting up dinnertime. We travel with a disabled
son and Mary Ann anticipates every potential need that may occur, assuring that
our accommodations and all special requirements are met before we even arrive! I
must commend Mary Ann for her quick response to an incident that occurred with
my son (who was in a wheelchair) while returning to the ship and moving through
the local security check. The actions of the local security caused much distress
to my son and family affecting his transition onto the ship in the next port as
well. After discussing the details with Mary Ann, she was quick to report the
incident to ship authorities and further followed up with the ship company upon
returning home advocating for the rights of my son. Thank you Mary Ann for all
you continue to do to make our vacation cruise a remarkable event.
