A cruise pulling into Húsavík in Iceland
We know cruises, and we know Iceland!
Iceland Step by Step can serve as your travel agent to book your Iceland cruise. We’re a travel agent through Travel Quest, which is a part of Travel Leaders. But we’re not a travel agent first. We’re an Iceland expert first. We’re certified as an Iceland Specialist by both the main Iceland tourism organization as well as Travel Beyond the Obvious.
When we help you plan your Iceland cruise, we’re matching you to the best cruise available for your group’s desires. We’re not going to push the trip with the highest commission, or the company that has the flashiest marketing. We know Iceland, and we know Iceland cruises.
We love Iceland ProCruises, since they are co-owned by an Icelander. But we can also help you with Viking, Windstar, Hurtigruten, Aurora Expeditions, and more.
We’re also going to give you the best trip possible at every single moment. Many Iceland cruises expect you to find your way from the airport to Reykjavik to get on the ship. (Some to offer shuttle service, but many do not.) We won’t just put you on the full-sized bus to Reykjavik, the bus that makes you transfer and lug your luggage onto a second bus. We’ll offer you a private shuttle, or even a rental car. (This is what I would do!)
And we’ll give you an itinerary for that first day before you board your cruise. You can explore museums in Reykjavik, or check out the flea market, or take a chocolate factory tour, or see a new show with real lava, or visit a premium thermal pool. There is no additional fee for pre- and post- cruise planning. You’ll just pay the actual cost of any tours, transportation, or lodging.
Every bit of planning we do for your cruise is completely free. We receive a commission for booking your cruise. That’s the main compensation we receive; we’re not piling additional fees on top of that commission. We plan your trip the way we would plan our own. We may receive additional commissions for booking lodging, but those commissions will never influence our decision, and you always have the option to book everything on your own based on our recommendations. If booking on your own might be cheaper, we’ll let you know!
Here’s how our Iceland cruise booking process works:
First, we’ll serve as your personal “Iceland cruise matchmaker.” That starts with a one-on-one video consultation where we talk to you and recommend the best cruise for your group. We’ll tell you about any promotions that are currently available, and make sure you are happy with our recommendation.
Then, we’ll help you pick excursions. We haven’t been on every Iceland cruise, but know where attractions are located, and how long the bus ride will be. Some days, you may not want to do an excursion at all. In that case, we’ll give you a walking tour to follow of whatever town you’re in. That tour will be available on an app on your phone. Check out an example for a stop in the town of Ísafjörður:

Finally, we’ll plan your pre- and post-cruise logistics or touring. Want to stay an extra day and see the Golden Circle? We’ll offer you some options. (Again, we won’t just put you on the big bus tour that pays us a commission! Our favorite Golden Circle tour is on a minibus, and they pay us exactly nothing!))
We think it’s a better way to book an Iceland Cruise. And we hope you agree!
