Travel Agent for Family Vacations
Walt Disney World
I decided to become a travel agent in 2019 after leaving a career in video production. On Thanksgiving Day 2018, I had a fluke accident that resulted in a concussion. While my brain healed, I spent a lot of time doing nothing other than think. I couldn't watch tv, use my computer, use my phone, or read books so, I had a lot of time to reflect on my life. I came to the realization that I was not fulfilling my true calling in life.
My love for travel began when I was a little girl. My parents are both immigrants and I began travelling internationally at a young age. We often visited England and Mexico to visit family and to vacation. In my free time as a girl, I loved reading Nickelodeon Magazine because of the travel section written for kids. In high school, I participated in People to People where I went abroad to play volleyball and travel to France and Italy. In college, I spent a semester working at Walt Disney World and a summer in Europe. I spent three weeks studying in Seville, Spain, and another three weeks exploring Europe. That summer I visited England, Wales, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, and Ireland. A couple years after college, I realized I had traveled so much abroad, but hadn't explored much of my own country. I went on a three-week long road trip with my family where we visited Badlands National Park, Wind Cave National Park, Devils Tower State Park, Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, and Rocky Mountain National Park. That trip was amazing, and I wanted to explore more. I found a summer job working for Trek America where I worked as a tour leader taking tourist all over the United States and Canada. I crossed so much off my bucket list that summer! This travel bug has continued into my adult life, and I squeeze trips whenever I can. It is a true love of mine.
My friends and family often came to me for travel advice, and in 2019 I decided to take this hobby of helping people plan trips and make it my new career. My specialty in travel falls within two categories: family vacations and milestone vacations. Today I look as that concussion as a blessing. It allowed me to re-evaluate where I was in my life and focus on what is important to me.
I loved working in video production, but the stress and restricting nature of corporate America was unwelcome friction that was growing larger and larger and becoming more difficult to manage with the increased responsibilities of caring for a child. My break from corporate America made me realize that there are other ways to make a living that fit better with my personality and my values. This change in careers also better fit my life as a mom with a special needs son.
My life feels right now, and I love helping families carve out time for themselves. Most of my fondest memories are centered around family vacations, and I want to help other families create those life-long memories. If you are curious to follow me on my journey, DM me your email address and I’ll add you to my newsletter. My newsletter focuses on travel tips, news, and ideas.
