My experience in the travel industry spans more than twenty-five years. Throughout this time, I had the opportunity to serve in different positions in the industry, including corporate travel and leisure travel, and briefly worked as a hotel sales manager. My broad range of positions in the industry over the course of my career has helped shape my business as it is today - the owner of Horizon Vacations, LLC.
I arrange large and small groups for families and friends traveling together on vacation, destination weddings, and multi-generational trips. After taking a short break from leisure travel, I spent several years booking corporate travel in the late 1990s for a Fortune-500 company. I returned to booking leisure travel, and many of my most loyal clients have trusted me with their yearly family vacations since my early days in the industry.
I am a Charter Member of the Destination Wedding & Honeymoon Specialist Association, a Certified Sandals Specialist, a Jamaica Travel Specialist, and many other resorts and cruise certifications. I earned my certification as a Hawaii Destination Specialist through the Hawaii Convention & Visitors Bureau and love to plan detailed multi-island itineraries. I earned my Certified Travel Associate certificate through the Travel Institute. Along with these certification courses, I continuously attend training sessions and conferences to stay educated in the industry.
I also enjoy creating custom-built, multi-country trips throughout Europe, with customized itineraries featuring fascinating cities such as Rome, Florence, Venice, Amalfi Coast, Santorini, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Munich, Prague, and Budapest.
One of my great passions is working with engaged couples to plan their once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon vacation. I am honored to be a part of my clients' special trips, and I enjoy spending time working with each couple to recommend the right resort or destination for their dream honeymoon.

Amazing Experience

She was absolutely amazing!!! American Airlines cancelled our flight to Jamaica at 7 pm 12 hours prior to our departure time. Almost all the flights out of DFW were full due to bad weather the several days prior and it was looking like it was going to be a couple days before we could get out. Shelley sat on the phone for 2+ hours after normal business hours working with American Airlines to get us flights out. She was giving us a play by play via text and texted us the entire time until we made it through security and we’re sitting on the plane. Then she called the resort to make sure we made it safely the next day. ??

But what we can do is put on our super hero cape and try to get you re-accommodated and that's exactly what I did. I am so happy you made it to Jamaica and enjoyed your trip! New York to Mexico

Shelley was super wonderful at arranging back to back trips for me to New York then to Playa. The hotel in NY was AMAZING! The all inclusive she recommended in Play del Carmen was also awesome. It is wonderful to work with an agent that keeps your budget and interests in mind when making suggestions. I will never book a vacation without using Shelley!

Travel during COVID is an adventure all on it's own, regardless where you are going. We are not what I would consider novice travelers, but every country seems to have different requirements and forms and having someone provide us a check list of what is needed for our specific destination was very helpful.Shelley has been our go to resource for travel for several years and continues to provide 5 star service every time. The long term relationship also allows her to continue to build her understanding of our likes and dislikes and offer recommendations that are spot on. And it's not just the locations that she's able to recommend, but the additional services. She knows exactly what level of service we expect from the time we walk into our home airport until we walk out and she makes sure that we know what our options are to have the best experience possible.

The BEST Honeymoon!

Shelley was amazing!! She provided detailed options for us for our honeymoon. We have never been to Cabo, but she worked up options and prices for us to help us decide on the best package and destination for our honeymoon. Then COVID hit. She was incredible! She handled everything and kept us up-to-date with changes and options. We decided to move our wedding date, in-turn our Honeymoon date. She worked with the resort and airlines to make all the changes with minimal to no extra costs. We even saved enough on our rebooking, where she got us an extra night at the resort and airline credits! Lastly, we arrived at the resort and found they did not apply a "resort credit". We contacted Shelley and she worked on an US holiday to contact the travel agency and hotel to fix the credit. She was extra communicative and let us know when things were handled. Our travel and stay was just perfect. Shelley is the absolute best and I highly recommend!!!

Shelley tirelessly worked with me to help pick and plan our perfect honeymoon trip to Jamaica.
I'm in my mid-twenties and have never had to plan a trip out of the country on my own, so it was definitely a little overwhelming trying to pick which country to visit and where to stay. I can't count the number of phone calls we had as we talked through all the different options to narrow down where I wanted to spend my honeymoon.

Never used a travel agent previously but since this trip was an anniversary gift threw caution to the wind and enlisted the help of Shelley - AM SO GLAD I DID!!!! Giving her a rough outline of what we wanted she not only searched out the many options but through the course of a couple, brief conversations she presented us with the best options. Top-notch travel agent that I have used for every vacation I have been blessed to take I’ve the years. Most important is that Shelley always goes above and beyond to bring a special touch and personalize the adventure. This trip was. A special one being that it was to celebrate my 50th birthday. Shelley made sure to get the details of what exactly I was looking for in a destination, resort, activities, etc. and boy did she nail it. Again, I was going to celebrate my 50th and when I walked into the room, the celebration began with a bottle of champagne on ice, a Care package put together and personal card from Shelley and her husband Jay. Nothing better than enjoying some delicious cupcakes and sipping on some cold champagne as soon as we arrive at the resort; however, that was just the beginning of what would be my best vacation ever. The details of the inspira Club perks piled up and we felt like a King and Queen from the moment we stepped into the resort. Thank you Shelley.

No Secrets to a Poor Resort and Avg Service

The Secrets Maroma Beach was a Poor location to visit on vacation. Although the resort was layed out ok and the beach and Spa were nice, the food was fair at best and the menu was poor. The service was poor as well, always had to push to get anything. The staff tried to take the fun out of the trip whenever possible. We were one of several groups that were not even allowed to have music in the pool. Don't get me wrong, our group of 22 along with a few opther groups (16 and 10) had a great time together, but it had little to do with the service and personnel of the resort. Our travel agent wasn't very accomidating either. She never tried to do help put our group together, as many booked at different times. She also did nothing to try to help us with any potential upgrades based on our group size, which our past agents always did. Disappointing.

As for my service, I worked closely with your group leader and the hotel, arranging a nice discount for the entire group instead of a room upgrade, which was in the group contract. With group travel, travelers are required to book at the same time. This is the only way the hotel knows you are part of a group.
