Culinary and Foodie - US and abroad
Since I was a child I knew I wanted to pursue two things - travel and cooking. I have spent my adult life doing just that. I first began in the travel industry as a corporate travel agent where I assisted in daily travel for businesses as well as meeting planning (I am a bit of an organizational nerd!). This allowed me the opportunity to explore this great, big, diverse world. After attending a culinary college in Baltimore, MD, and becoming a certified chef, I began working in restaurants on all levels. My favorite cuisine will always be foods of the Southern U.S. and Low Country South Carolina. I love learning the history of these foods because they all have a story to tell of their origin.
I have traveled to islands in the Caribbean (Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Grand Turk, and Jamaica) and have lived and traveled in Europe. While living in Germany with my military husband, we were fortunate enough to live the "champagne life on a beer budget." Our weekends were spent traveling by train or car to France, Czech Republic, Denmark, The Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Spain, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. My favorite country is Switzerland as I have yet to experience a more beautiful place.
Although, I am a Georgia native and grew up in Atlanta and its suburbs, I spent 20 years in Greenville, SC, peppered with a few years in Charlotte, NC, and currently live full-time in Beaufort, SC. Needless to say, the South has my heart!
Cruising - Rivers to Oceans
Cruising has something for everyone. Where else can you travel from point to point on a floating resort? Now that cruising is back there is no better time to take advantage of all that it has to offer. Whether it is a relaxing cruise to the Caribbean or Mediterranean, casually drifting down the Danube, or making your way through the glaciers of Alaska, cruising offers an opportunity to explore so much and so effortlessly.
Cruising is great for celebrating special occasions but it is also the perfect way to bring a family of all generations and/or friends together. There is so much to do aboard a cruise ship that you may never actually run into your fellow travelers!
