Puerto Vallarta Travel Agent Planner
The Spanish language has a way of making places, such as Puerto Vallarta, sound festive and happy. And that is how you will feel once you land in this popular vacation enclave. Located along the Pacific coast of Mexico, Puerto Vallarta sits in the state of Jalisco. Known for its beaches and water sports, Puerto Vallarta also boasts a cobble-stoned historical center, which is home to the Senora de Guadalupe church and several fine eateries and bars. El Malecon (a seaside boardwalk) is also a popular hub - known for its displays of modern sculptures, nightclubs, and bars. When you think of Mexico, you often think of tacos. However, Puerto Vallarta will make you think of them in a whole new way. That is because they are offered in various forms. For example, you will find the options almost endless, as the offerings include tacos al pastor (served with marinated pork) or tacos de marlin (a burrito with smoked marlin and shrimp - yum!). You can also eat tacos de birria, which is a corn tortilla filled with braised meat or goat stew. While you may not think of goat stew as tasty, you will find out otherwise. Whether you are sampling the cuisine, engaging in water sports, or visiting a historical building, Puerto Vallarta always offers an adventure. One of the adventures waiting for you is Puerto Vallarta's Mirador de la Cruz. A good time to go to this overlook is just before the sun sets. The combination hill and stair climb leads to a cross at the top. Don't worry about getting tired, as there are plenty of benches along the way. If you wish to stay on ground level, I might recommend Puerto Vallarta's Botanical Gardens. Take a bus from the main part of town and enjoy the scenic ride along the way. On your bus trip, you will see amazing views of the Los Arcos Nature Reserve and the bay. Once you get to the gardens, you will be greeted by Mexican flora, including orchids and cacti and many old trees. Hiking trails wind through the site that lead to a river - a perfect place for swimming on a warm and humid day.
