South America is never far from my thoughts. Although I’ve been there many times, I am always eager to get back and explore something new or revisit a favorite. I can’t get enough of the delectable meals to be found in Lima’s world renowned food scene and endless supply of amazing restaurants. And I could walk for hours along the boulevards of Buenos Aires window shopping or enjoying a coffee on the sidewalk where you would swear you were in Paris.
South America is an outdoor playground for all sorts of adventure. The first time I went to Patagonia, I got to hike on the Perito Moreno Glacier. Surrounded by the white ice peaks and azure blue pools of melting water is indescribable. The next time I went to Patagonia, we went hiking in the Tierra del Fuego National Park surrounded by majestic fjords. Then I hopped aboard a luxury cruise to Antarctica which was epic!
I’ve walked in the pine forests that dot the mountain sides of Bariloche, a gorgeous ski resort in Argentina that is just as beautiful in the summer. No wonder Bariloche is known as the Switzerland of South America. I’ve traipsed through the rainforest in the Peruvian Amazon and sipped water from a water vine that I hacked myself. And there is no bigger thrill than catch-and-release piranha fishing! I also love to send clients to experience the wonders of Iguazu Falls from Brazil. The first time I was there, I was blown away. It will change you forever.
One of the most strenuous and exhilarating things I’ve ever done is hike up Huayna Picchu. That’s the peak behind Macchu Picchu you see in all the pictures. It’s not for the faint at heart! You are literally hiking in the clouds hanging off the side of the mountain. At the top, you are rewarded with a view of the valley and can take a much needed rest among the ruins while picturing the Peruvians who called it home (which is seriously hard to imagine).
If beaches are your thing, South America is the perfect destination. You could head to Rio but you could head north to Pipa Beach in Brazil where the locals go to live it up in the summer. Or go to Uruguay, a sparsely populated country with the most incredible slow-food scene, burgeoning wine region and mile after mile of coastal towns. Uruguay is home to Punta del Este (think a smaller Miami Beach resort town) and Jose Ignacio, the low-key village with its sandy roads, elegant restaurants and chichi boutiques that cater to Hollywood movie stars.
You really can’t go wrong with a trip to South America. It can be an intimidating destination to plan but that is something that I am an expert in. My first visit to Europe was a breeze with Lillian as my travel agent. She planned a college graduation trip for my daughter and me to Italy. Everything was set up for us, so all we had to do was show up! We started in Florence and Lillian helped us with daily sightseeing ideas and booked a wonderful cooking class for us at a local culinary institute. From there, Lillian designed a driving itinerary for us to explore Tuscany on our own, which included stops at towns such as Greve in Chianti and Panzano, where we participated in a local wine festival Lillian discovered.
She also booked a cozy farmhouse with amazing views in Castellina. From there, we drove to the Cinque Terre coast and stayed in a wonderful hotel steps from the beach.
We used all her tips to find local gems like hot springs and took advantage of the Trip Plans App, which made it easy to consult our itinerary each day and share it with loved ones at home. Lillian is always available to answer any questions.

A Last Minute Getaway

Lillian booked a trip to Italy this past March so I could go visit my daughter who was studying abroad in Florence. I had never been to Italy and wanted to see Rome and the Amalfi Coast. I leaned on Lillian’s expertise to craft our itinerary, and she really did a great job making sure my girlfriend and I were aware of various seasonal and logistical hurdles of getting to the Amalfi coast, driving versus trains, etc. and presented us with options. She is very thorough and thoughtful, even researching and including scenic running routes when she found out we liked to run and picking a hotel that had free bikes to use in Lucca. Her Trip app is really great because it lists the day’s activities, what trains we were taking, what time we needed to be down in the lobby for our transfers as well as information on all our hotels. She also checked up on us and made herself available on Whatsapp. I was thrilled with working with her and hope to use her for future trips.

We reached out to Lillian to plan a trip to Barcelona and Seville. Working with her was great. She has travelled so much and is very savvy about Europe and the best way to see it. She suggested how many days for each city, included several great city tours that reflected our interests in architecture and photography. The trip included great hotel choices, train tickets and private transfers. She also answered all my emails quickly and all of my questions no matter how trivial. I booked an Avalon river cruise trip with a girlfriend to Eastern Europe through Lillian's agency. Throughout the planning process, she was always available to answer any of my questions. When the company sent the documents with the flights, Lillian saw that the connection in Atlanta was too tight so she made them rebook me so I could connect through a smaller airport without rushing. Fantastic service

This summer, Lillian helped us with our family vacation in Spain and arranged a kid friendly e-bike tour in Barcelona, a private sailing day in Mallorca and got us tennis lessons at Rafa Nadal’s club. She is so thoughtful about her approach to travel planning and very easy to work with. She also was helped me with some complicated transfers in Argentina getting our group of 12 pp from the major airport to the domestic airport. When half of us missed our flights, I reached out to Lillian and within 30 mins, she had arranged for an additional pick up for those of us arriving the next day and was in constant communication with all of us until both groups got to where they needed to be. She gives concierge level service and is great to work with.

We reached out to Lillian to book a G Adventures tour to Patagonia. She not only booked the tour but worked with us to craft a personalized night photography tour in the Torres Del Paine park which was the highlight of the trip. When our flight was cancelled a month before departure, she advised us on changing the itinerary and added an extra tour and hotel night in Santiago so that we could make the most of the trip. I wouldn’t hesitate to use her again.
