JAPAN DESTINATION TRAVEL EXPERT
I first travelled to Japan some 30 years ago and I have been very lucky to have continued to travel to Japan many many times since then. I have booked many happy Clients from solo travelers , couples , friends , small groups to large groups. As a travel agent expert on Japan, I can say that this archipelago continues to intrigue and fascinate me, as it does many travelers. Japan is an enigma - an interesting, yet curious, blend of contemporary and ancient sites and activities. While big cities in Japan display futuristic skyscrapers, they also give the traveler pause with their ancient teahouses and temples. The varied geography and climate give each of Japan's main islands their distinctive qualities. For example, you can go to Hokkaido and visit its icy peaks or land in Okinawa and enjoy a warm and tropical beach. A great time to tour Japan is during the Cherry Blossom festivities in April when the trees show off their blooms in different areas of the country. Whether you travel by foot or by bicycle, or by subway or bus, you will discover something interesting and new in this diverse country. For instance, if you seek high drama, take a trip to Nijo Castle, which welcomes visitors with ornate reception rooms and a unique security system. The joinery in the castle's floorboards were designed to emit a warning squeak to alert inhabitants of intruders. As a contrast, you might pay a visit to the austere Zen rock garden, located at Ryoan-ji, or follow the trails at Higashiyama, an area in the former capital of Kyoto, located on Honshu Island. Kyoto is known for its wooden residences, Shinto shrines, and Buddhist temples. One of the most pleasant areas in Kyoto, Higashiyama exudes a semi-rural feel. It is pleasant to visit as it is free of the traffic jams and tour buses that may predominate other tourist areas. Northern Higashiyama is rich in traditional Japanese gardens and Buddhist temples. Therefore, you will want to spend a good deal of time walking and exploring. You can see lovely views of Mount Hiei during your walk or trek east, next to the Otowa River, which leads to Sekizanzenin Temple. The free-admission religious site dates back to the 9th century. Again, Japan is full of diversity, as you can also relax in nearby Hakone where you can play golf or enjoy the hot springs. In Nagano, seek out the Zenko-ji Buddhist temple, which gives you a glimpse of old Japan. You can also visit Himeji, which is home to a Samurai castle, or observe the potters at work in Hagi. As you can see, Japan is truly a special and interesting place to relax and explore. That is why, as your travel agent professional for Japan, I welcome the chance to work with you on planning your next vacation. Give me a call or email me so we can establish the ideal itinerary.
