I had the opportunity to travel around the world before I was old enough to drive around the block.
I have traveled to over 30 countries and lived in Italy, Ireland and Saudi Arabia.
My earlier travels included:
- a dusty Christmas on safari in Kenya and another skiing in wonderful Switzerland (with fondue and fresh cider)
- camping on a foggy Swiss hillside and dropping into a salt mine in Salzburg, Austria
- touring temples with roaming monkeys in Kathmandu, Nepal and eating crispy frog legs in Bali
Most recently my travels included:
- Azamara ocean cruise from Southampton to France, Portugal and Spain
- AMA Waterways wine cruise on the Danube
- adventure tours in Peru, Vietnam and a culinary tour in Southern Italy (fresh clams and pasta on the beach in Sicily)
- Leisure trips to Cabo and Cancun
- Self guided family trips to Florence and Paris
- family trips include B&Bs in Ireland and tubing in the jungle of Belize
- NCL ocean cruises to Caribbean and Mexican Riviera
Travel feeds my soul but I also LOVE to eat new local foods. I plan Culinary adventures in leisure or luxury accommodations with river or ocean cruises so you can focus on experiencing the culture on a relaxing, safe and delicious vacation.

Amazing family vacation!

Amazing experience with Laura! I travel for business - a lot (150+ days/year), so I'm familiar and comfortable with booking travel. That being said, I'm so glad that we chose Laura and LaCal Travel to book our family vacation. Working with Laura wasn't only easy, it was FUN! She consulted with us on what we were looking for in our trip, and after hearing our ideas, she presented us with a great list of many focused options. She presented the "pros" and "cons" of each and worked with us to help make the best decision for our family of 10 making the trip. We ultimately settled on an all-inclusive resort (a first for our family) and had an amazing time. Laura not only handled our hotel booking, she booked the entire package - air, transfers, hotel, and some great excursion options. We're already discussing ideas for our next trip and can't wait to talk with Laura about our next adventure! I promise you won't go wrong working with Laura and LaCal Travel!

River cruising down the Rhine

From the first contact with Laura we knew we were dealing with a knowledgeable professional. She listened carefully to our wishes and went from there. She did all the research that I so dreaded and came up with options within our budget. Her enthusiasm was contagious and the trip was soon booked. She was always clear and concise, advising us thru the paperwork for insurance and the booking of flights. She sincerely wanted us to have the time of our lives! On the last leg of our journey home, when a flight was late and making our connection seemed unlikely, she sent an email with instructions on what to do if that happened. She was looking out for us the whole time!! We so appreciate her and will highly recommend her!

Best Mother/Daughter trip ever!

Laura made this the best trip ever. She did all of the hard work and it all went seamlessly. If it was up to me, I would have probably thought to just show up at the Eiffel Tower without a ticket which would have been a big mistake! Laura orchestrated a tour which allowed us to skip the line and take the elevator. Would never try to take a trip like that without her help!

Travel plans made thru Laura

She began by finding an airline that had a direct flight to our destination so that we were not subject to the difficulties of transfers. My husband and I are both in our eighties, so that was greatly appreciated. Likewise our accommodations on the ship appeared also to have been considered with our age in mind, We appreciated the effort and consideration exhibited for our transfers from various destinations and the hotel accommodations. Every step of the planned trip appeared to have prepared for us a lovely travel and cruise experience. From ease of the airline travel, to the included tours and the cruise. Unfortunately, a sudden onset of a debilitating health issue made it necessary to cancel all our plans. We truly would have loved the traveling experience and the memories it held.

An Unforgettable 30 Year Anniversary Trip

Laura did an amazing job covering every detail of this 2 week trip, from helping us choose a tour with a good balance of guided tours and free time to explore and spend quality time on our own, to our extension to spend time in Sicily , where she found us a perfect beachfront hotel with incredible views and proximity to family and easy access to bus and train travel options. In the planning process, she asked questions to things we never even thought about, and as a result, we had nice hotels in close proximity to city centers, a small tour group with highly knowledgeable local guides, recommendations to great local eateries, she even helped us download touring options so we did not have to use our internet to follow along - we saw the entire heart of Rome from Campo di Fiori to the Piazza del Popolo and everything in between as a result of this. Laura provided us with all the paperwork we needed in an organized folder - all made easy and stress free. Can't wait for next trip!

Great Help for Over a Year

Laura was very helpful and spent tons of time planning my wife and I's European honeymoon last year. Unfortunately because of Covid our trip was canceled. But Laura continued to work with us for over a year to get everything we wanted out of our replacement honeymoon! She spent hours and hours on the phone with customer service helping us plan and replace our plans. And when things didn't quite work out she was able to get us our money back even when terms and conditions on certain travel web sites said refunds weren't possible. She was a great help and we are grateful she was in our corner all the way through.

Laura was great to work with and helped us plan our perfect honeymoon trip to exactly the areas of Italy we hoped for - so perfect that she even helped us to extend our trip while we were in Italy! Our 50th anniversary trip on the Rhine

Working with Laura was easy, to say the least. She thought of everything and made our trip pretty much hassle free. There were some airline transfer glitches, but that was not her fault, these things happen and we were able to deal with it and still make all of our flights. Traveling on AMADante was amazing and so relaxing. beautiful views, great food and the wines were incredible,my husband, who isn't a wine drinker, drank more than he ever has .
