Falconry at Mount Falcon, Ireland

When traveling, I love to immerse myself in the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of a destination. In my years as a travel advisor, my most recommended activity is a walking food tour- the food is always fantastic, and the guides always dispense entertaining factoids about the local history, architecture, and traditions that stay with guests long after the tour. It's a few hours and a wealth of information and taste sensations, oftentimes local food that you may not order yourself. 

The same for where you sleep!  I love a good luxury hotel (who doesn't?), but I also like to recommend boutique hotels or bed & breakfasts for their charm and connection to the locals.  My favorite stay yet was in Ireland, in a manor estate house, with falconry, clay shooting, and fly fishing. Oh, and of course, incredible food & wine!
