European and River Cruise Specialist
From the first time I went to Europe I was hooked. History, culture, cuisine, adventure; European travel has it all. I am an expert in European travel and have been personally escorting my own private tour groups in Europe since 2008 (see the “travel with us” tab on our website).
My travel style in Europe varies from river cruises to fully escorted tours as well as independent travel. I am the proud and amazed recipient of the 2020 "Leadership in Travel" WAVE award from the Globus Family of Brands and Travel Age West It was the first time in the history of the award that it was presented to an agent.
I am a Globus Family of Brands Diamond Elite Agent, an Avalon Waterways Specialist, a Globus Escorted Tour Expert, a CIE Expert, and an AMA Waterways Specialist. In fact, The Joy of Travel books more products within the Globus family of Brands (Globus tours, Avalon Waterways) than any other Travel Leaders agency in the nation.
In April 2022 my Signature Event was a private river cruise (that’s right, I bought out an entire ship), for a Tulip Time cruise like no other. I followed that with my private, personally escorted tour of Scotland, September 2022.
In 2023 my Signature Event was a private, personally escorted trip to Kenya and Tanzania with Nairobi, February 4-18, 2023. I took only 22 guests along with me on this one for a truly exceptional experience.
That event will be followed by my private tour of Classical Greece and the Greek Isles in October 2023.
In 2024 my Signature Event is a private, personally escorted tour from Paris to Normandy and along the Loire Valley (April 2024). This incredible journey will introduce you to Chambord and Chenonceau, as well as Mont St Michel, Rouen, the home and gardens of Claude Monet, and an in depth visit to the Landing Beaches of Normandy.
My 2025 Signature Event is in the works and will a Nile river cruise combined with an Egyptian land tour.
I really have spent a lifetime "going there, doing that" and would love for you to join me.

Working with Joy was a breeze. All I had to do was tell her what we were looking for and in what price range, and she took care of everything. She set up transfers to and from the airport, made sure that we took advantage of any and every offer the resort was running at the time, and stayed in communication with us leading up to our trip to make sure that everything was in line for travel. Joy was amazing! She helped my wife and I plan the most amazing trip to Hawaii. Joy had tons of recommendations on places to go and things to do. Grand Fiesta Americana Coral BeachThis is our 4th time booking with joy and she always takes care of us. She told us we would love this location. And boy she wasn’t wrong! We loved the trip, and our view from our room was amazing. We were kinda shocked that they were still so strict on the mask indoors. But besides that, it was the best resort we have been to. The food was amazing!!! Service was great, Always kept the fridge/snacks stocked & room clean. Hydro therapy was a super cool experience! We booked an excursion. Went to Tulum, visited the ruins and then went to the water park down the road and had a blast! The resort beach was nice and not too crowded. Being able to almost walk 100 yards into crystal clear water was pretty cool too! We have already recommended a couple of our friends that are getting married around December to go here for their honeymoon. This is defiantly our new favorite place to go in Mexico!

I don't know how or why The Joy of Travel (TJOT) popped up several years ago on my Facebook feed, but it did. I followed TJOT through Covid and decided when we can go, we go with TJOT! Our first trip with them and Globus was October 2021 to Spain and Portugal. It was a great trip, there is not one thing I would change about it. We definitely got our monies worth. Joy and her team were great in setting everything up, answering questions in a timely manner which is very important to me. I have recommended four people to TJOT, two of which I met on the street in Lisbon this past year as they were on a tour with a very expensive competitor. As I write this, they are on their first tour with Globus and The Joy of Travel. We are leaving this next Wednesday for Amsterdam with Globus, and Joy herself will be our fearless leader! Can't wait! Give them a try, tell them Debbie sent you!!

Best help planning our trips

We are going on a river cruise in December and Joy has been great to work with specifically the details. Because of covid we had to cancel a trip in 2021. She helped me to take the credit from my cancellation and use to increase my days on our 2022 trip. She has laid out what happens if we have to cancel, and how to take advantage before the year is up. (we only had a year to spend our credit) I would highly recommend Joy for any travel you are planning. She has been to a lot of places and can give examples of where the best restaurants are, and what are the best attractions for your money.
