I joined the travel industry and launched ILLUMINATION VACATIONS to help families, couples, and groups spend more time enjoying the FUN parts of travel and less time  searching online, trying to figure out what "deals" are good, and being frustrated by the overwhelming task of planning their dream vacations.

I visit the Hawaiian Islands as often as possible from my home in California. While I'm there, I tour resorts and participate in local experiences so I can give offer first-hand advice and insider tips to clients. The aloha spirit is a real thing, and I can't get enough of it!

I also have expertise in premium all-inclusive vacations in Mexico and the Caribbean. I am a Certified Club Med Great Advisor and a Certified Sandals Specialist. I love helping couples enjoy the romance and luxury of Mexico and the Caribbean.

Groups and families who want to cruise, vacation, or tour together come to me because they see the value of having an experienced agent take over the planning and keep track of the reservations, payments, insurance, and other details of group trips.

I'm a foodie who enjoys engaging with a destination and its people through their food and drinks, like kangaroo burgers in Sydney or kava in Fiji. My husband is a travel junkie. He's off touring Angkor Wat this week, probably researching the next big adventure from his hotel in Siem Reap.

So, what happened when we got together in 2008? Well, we ended up being the couple who'd rather visit Barbados and enjoy a Bajan food festival than worry about our house or cars. If you come to visit us, you'll probably enjoy Honduran baleadas like those we ate in Roatan, but be prepared to ignore the guest room carpet that badly needs replacing. If you're like us, you probably won't mind. And hey, bring pics from your own travels! We'd love to see them.

I have come to rely on Stacey's attention to detail and expertise in helping me plan both my vacations and business travel. Both kinds of travel have sometimes been complex and delicate, including itineraries across four European and Balkan countries on a tight story assignment - I am a journalist - as well as journeys in less secure areas in Latin America. Every step of the way, she was diligent in planning the travel and also keeping me in the loop as to how the planning was coming along. She also has taken great care in planning travel for my elderly mother, thinking ahead about services that could assist her while on the road. I've tried other travel agents in the past, but never felt as satisfied as I do with Stacey's service and have found my way back to her. Highly, highly recommended!

Stacey is responsive, knowledgeable and friendly. We go to her for all our travel insurance purchases, and she's always helpful and willing to call the insurance companies to ask questions and get quotes. She travels herself so she knows about traveling. I highly recommend her.

My husband & I started planning a cruise wedding in 2018 with the help of the lovely & talented Stacey Rishel of Illumination Vacations; it was scheduled to take place in 2020 and was obviously disrupted due to COVID. She stuck by us through rescheduling, modifications, guest accommodations and ultimately cancellations, all with a professional smile and friendly reassurances.

She has worked miracles on more than one vacation for us over the years, and still goes the extra mile with things like sending care package to our home in anticipation of finally taking THE wedding cruise 5 years later without a group of 50 like we originally planned.

Helping me stay safe while traveling

I haven't traveled at all during the pandemic but my mother across the country just turned 90. I haven't seen her for 3 years. I got overwhelmed with all the options and wanted to find the best way to get to Maine from California as safely as possible. Stacey was very responsive to my COVID anxiety and gave me several options, clearly and respectfuly. (It's kind of lonely here in still-masking land.) So happy I checked in with her!
