Cruise, Disney, Luxe Travel, and more!

In Egypt at the Pyramids with my foster son!
In Egypt at the Pyramids with my foster son!

Why should you use me to plan and book your next trip?

Well for starters, I am a huge travel nerd and nomad who has lived in 5 states, 4 countries, visited over 200 cities, and been to 57 countries. While I specialize in Cruises, Disney, and Luxe travel, my agency (Strol Travel) is full service and I'm always looking to learn something new! That being said, if I feel your needs would be better served elsewhere, I will gladly make a referral – the most important thing is that you have an awesome trip!

Like with many others, Covid changed my life trajectory, my job, and where I lived. I took advantage of this “crisis opportunity” to undergo an INSANE amount of study and training to become a travel agent – finally marrying my career with the single thing I enjoy doing above all else: seeing and experiencing the world!

I have traveled at pretty much every level – from extreme budget (backpacking across Europe, staying in hostels, etc.) to Luxe (fabulous island resort experiences, an amazing suite experience on a cruise).  One of my goals as a travel agent is to identify folks on the cusp of “moving up” to luxe travel and helping them out. One of the most pleasant surprises I’ve had when I’ve gone luxe is the added amenities that I often paid for separately when I did NOT go luxe—which meant the final price difference ended up being not as extreme as  feared. At the end of the day, my goal is to give you the best possible value for your budget - so let me help you “move on up” to the good life!

Another thing I can do for you is provide more firsthand, "been there, done that” knowledge than other travel agents. I’ve been to 5 continents (no Australia and Antarctica YET), cruised over a dozen times, been to the Pyramids of Egypt AND Mexico, walked the Great Wall and saw the Terra Cotta Soldiers, gone on Safari and been to Victoria Falls, cruised Cape Horn, seen the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia, floated around Venice, been awed by La Sagrada Familia, and more.  I am normally a “quick hit” traveler, preferring to see a lot in a little time, but I’ve also done “deep dives” into some places, having spent a month in Thailand, another month in Indonesia, etc.

Since I have recently begun to experience “traveler's guilt” - especially around cruising – due to its environmental impact, I decided to launch Strol as an eco-conscious travel agency.  I run the business as sustainably as possible, and in lieu of travel agency fees or service charges, I require each trip sold include a donation towards environmental mitigation or protection to vetted nonprofits.

Strol is a socially-conscious agency, as well.  In my previous life, I worked for a variety of non-profits, serving a variety of constituents. I have also been a volunteer guardian ad litem, a Peace Corps volunteer, and foster/adoptive parent. I am currently going through my “second phase” of fostering and plan to adopt my current foster son.

These experiences meant I couldn't, in good conscience, launch a business that also wasn’t doing some good. Accordingly, I developed and launched a sister organization called Share the World: a nonprofit that provides travel opportunities for disadvantaged youth. Strol is the official travel agency for Share the World, and works for them for free.

Speaking of free, I offer my services free of charge, with one exception: flight ticketing. Airline fares are even more bizarre and complicated than I thought they were BEFORE I got a peek behind the curtain!  Ever-changing rules and requirements, the availability of “hidden” fares that the lay traveler can’t find, and more all conspired to make this decision for me. On the plus side, for just $19.95 domestic and $29.95 international, you can give me your preferred flight dates/times and I will go through the nightmare of “Well, this fare is $30 less, but you’ll pay $35 for a carry on, or dang, this flight is $50 more, but it’s non-stop and allows seat selection,” etc.). And yes, I’ll even read through their endless terms and conditions to make sure there’s nothing sneaky in there!  I can also assure you that if you have problems with said flight, you'll have more luck fixing a problem if you sic your travel agent on them!

So, in summation, choose me as your travel agent and you’ll get the following:

  • A fully trained, licensed travel professional with more firsthand experience at home and abroad than most anyone else you’ll find;
  • The best VALUE for your trip – be it an inexpensive long weekend nearby or a luxury cruise around the world, I will get you the best bang for however many bucks you’re spending;
  • Less guilt over your trip since, instead of paying me a fee to book your vacation, you made a gift to an amazing organization fighting to keep this world clean and habitable for us to not only live in, but visit and experience;
  • Your business also helps support the nonprofit Share the World, which provides travel opportunities for disadvantaged youth.

Reviewed By Kyle - Vemont | Traveled to Hawaii ~ USA
David was such a joy to work with he went out of his way to make sure I would have fun on my trip. I got to go on a cruise to around Hawaii and meat Rosio Donald. I got to swing from the same vine that Indiana Jones swing on it in the last Crusaders. And see the Fields where jurassic Park was filmed and even got to explore a Lava tunnel and got to an active volcano I even got to walk on some lave I did not know you could ever do that till then it was so much fun by far the best trip I have ever been on.

First tri p to Hawaii!

Reviewed By Big B - South San Francisco, CA | Traveled to Oahu Island ~ Hawaii ~ USA
David organized my first trip to Hawaii. He found inexpensive flights and an inexpensive but good hotel that was not far from the beach in Honolulu. He got us tickets for a submarine ride and a luau at the Polynesian Cultural Center, both of which were unforgettable! He also suggested we rent mopeds, and we had a blast riding them to the top of Diamond Head. We also followed his suggestion to visit the Arizona Memorial, see the North side of the island, where the waves were huge. All in all, it was one of the best vacations I’ve ever had, and it wouldn’t have been nearly as fun or easy without David’s planning, work, and great ideas.

A Truth Teller and Cruise Expert!

Reviewed By Cruise King Tony - San Francisco, CA | Traveled to Ireland ~ Europe
David has planned many trips for me - including some that he has come along on himself! I love ocean cruising, but he introduce me to river cruising and hooked me up with a good deal on an amazing Christmas Markets River Cruise through Austria and Germany. I love that David is a "no BS" kind of guy and will shoot straight and tell you both the good AND the bad about destinations, ideas you have, etc.

Baltic Cruising

Reviewed By indeego - New Paltz, NY | Traveled to Scandinavia ~ Europe
David organized a group cruise to celebrate a friend's 50th. Although it was my first cruise I knew I was in good hands as David's got a wealth of cruise and travel experience, worldwide. He's knowledgeable, a prompt and open communicator, and an experienced cruiser and traveler - I'd use him again in a heartbeat. Would recommend him to anyone!

My First Time Letting Someone Else Plan!

Reviewed By Savvy Senior - Lafayette, CA | Traveled to Hawaii ~ USA
Even back in the day when travel agents were more common, I never used one and always preferred to book and plan myself. But with a new job I was WAY too busy, had traveled before with David and trusted him, so asked him to plan a trip for me to Hawai'i while he was living there. It was AMAZING. Of course I had him sign me up for some typical touristy stuff like the Polynesian Cultural Village, but he also scored a "secret trip" hike in Kauai, directed me to an amazing, nearly deserted beach, and more. This young man (well, compared to me), has been everywhere!

Customer Testimonials

David is the man!

I normally book my own travel, but thought I would give David/Strol Travel a try as I used to engage travel agents in those old, pre-internet days. And I'm glad I did! I did still do my own research and had amounts and places to stay on hand, and David beat those both - in terms of price AND quality. What I liked most about working with him was his honesty and forthrightness; he doesn't "dance around" issues to kiss up to the customer - he is honest and real and let's you know both the pros AND cons of any choices you may make as a traveler. Highly recommend!
