I did attend and complete a Travel Agent School Program in Indianapolis Indiana  in 1987 after High School,  things have completely change with the Internet.   I worked with an agency for about 3 years before deciding to go on my own.  I am Sandals Certified, Couples Resorts, Royal Caribbean certified, NCL certified, Disney certified.  I have a lot of resources with my host agency.
