Travel Specialist to the United,Kingdom,& Ireland

Barbara Dove Expertise: England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, as well as France, Italy, Russia, Australia/New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Island destinations and Cruises.

I have been an avid world traveler since college. When our two daughters were old enough to understand and appreciate travel experiences, my husband and I decided to show them the world and to instill in them love of travel. Naturally, I decided also that the best way to do so was to become a travel consultant. Now 30+ years later, my passion for travel and trip planning is as strong as ever.

Having traveled extensively [69 countries and counting] throughout Europe -60+ times to the United Kingdom alone- Russia, Australia/New Zealand, Indonesia, Singapore, Nepal, India, Africa, Egypt, Israel, and South America, I've also island hopped on a banana boat, cruised with Windstar, Oceania, and Seabourn. I utilize this breadth of industry and personal travel experience to guide clients as we work to develop their perfect bespoke itinerary.

Closest to my heart is the United Kingdom. Lots of travel there, close relationships with vendors and long-standing friends, love of British history, its culture and, of course, Shakespeare (a life long love of theatre) are just a few of the reasons why I've become a country specialist when it comes to all things UK!

Not unike the fabulous tailors on Saville Row, I work to create bespoke travel - I want my clients to feel that the trips we plan together are of excellent quality and fit. I realize that clients come with differing expectations and budgets, so I strive to listen first, and then I try to imagine what a winning experience will look like for them. I do not favor "The Amazing Race" hectic approach to travel - I encourage some level of immersion in local settings to enhance the experience. And like that bespoke tailor, I'm available to clients before, during and after their travels.    Where would you like to experience this wonderful kingdom?

Thinking about Jane Austen, or Henry VIII as you contemplate travel to England?

I've done so 60+ times and still have plenty of places to explore there. But for now, let's focus on your trip to London and its environs as a good starting point. If you have more than four nights, why not spend one or more outside London? You can, of course, spend weeks in London exploring new sites and neighborhoods, but your understanding of England will be greatly enhanced by going out into the countryside.

Why not head up the River Thames toward Bath and the Cotswolds? The area is full of history, architecture, and charm. The beauty of this itinerary is that one can enjoy the historic British Rail system, or at a minimum to escape London traffic before taking a drive on your own.

I frequently advise clients to travel by train to Bath and pick up a car from there. Driving through the scenic hedgerows is a unique experience for most Americans. Places such as Windsor Castle, Oxford University, Avebury (the better Stonehenge ), Lacock, and Bath with its Roman Baths can be incorporated into your itinerary if you've the time.

As a country specialist for the United Kingdom, that's what I am here to do – help guide you on your way to maximize your time and budget. One can tour in the United Kingdom year 'round, and with currently favorable exchange rates, this is a great time to visit England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Please get in touch so we can start planning your trip there!

I just wanted to follow up and again express my gratitude for all of your assistance with our trip to the UK. It was a little crazy but the hotels were all wonderful and the arrangements were seamless. We had a great time with our kids and everyone was very appreciative just to be together. I do have to say that the beds at the Stafford Hotle in London were possibly the most comfortable bed I’ve ever been in. And the concierge at the Merchant Hotel in Belfast could not have been more helpful as my husband’s illness arose and our travel plans changed. We loved it all. I look forward to collaborating again soon!
