The spirit, beauty, and symbolism surrounding the mythological phoenix are woven together with a common thread among many of the world’s cultures. Most notably, it destroys itself in fire and rises reborn and renewed from the ashes. Likewise, Royal Phoenix Travel Company was born in a season of life’s painful endings, with the loss of my mother, and beautiful new beginnings, as I step away from my teaching career, to fulfill my next calling.

When my husband asks me what I want for my birthday each year, my answer is always the same: “I want to go somewhere amazing!” Most of us already have enough “stuff”, but travel affords us so much more in experiences and memories that last a lifetime.

I came from educator-parents who believed in the importance of travel, and they showed me so much of the world! My segue into the travel business began three years ago when, as a high-school British Literature teacher, I started planning student trips abroad. That naturally progressed to planning adult group and family trips. It is my desire to serve international travelers who are looking to embrace the full travel experience of history, art, architecture, culture , local cuisine, and language immersion. With an education background, these are ideals that I embrace and encourage. As a 28-year veteran English teacher, I am particularly skilled in researching, planning, and paying attention to the smallest details.

I plan my group tours 18-24 months out. Over the course of that time, the group gets together for viewing destination videos, trying out local dishes, practicing common expressions, learning what and how to back, practicing with foreign currency, and all sorts of things. By the time we travel, everyone is ready to see and experience everything we've learned about!
