One of my most memorable vacations since becoming a travel advisor was a Princess Mediterranean cruise on the Regal Princess, traveling from Barcelona to Rome. Accompanied by family, this journey took us through an array of countries, each boasting its distinct charm. From unexpected delights to iconic landmarks, each destination left a profound mark, with Rome standing out as a city of sheer splendor. One particular highlight was discovering the sheer beauty of Portofino and the Italian Riviera — places I'd only seen in pictures came to life in front of my eyes. This trip was more than just sightseeing; it was an education. Experiencing the ambiance, aromas, and culinary delights of the quaint streets gave me a tangible connection to the stories and images I'd previously only imagined. The trip was invaluable for my skill as a travel advisor. I gained insights into the logistics of European travel, from understanding distances between landmarks to the nuances of transportation methods seldom used in the U.S. Notably, the positioning of many European cities, away from coastlines, provided a perspective I hadn't considered.
