Perfect Day at CocoCay

Independence & Freedom of the Seas @ CocoCay
Independence & Freedom of the Seas @ CocoCay

My first cruise allowed me to fall in love with this kind of travel. For starters, the ship itself was amazing. My husband and I were fortunate to sail Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas and be in an Ocean View Balcony Stateroom. The bed was actually comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. The views as we sailed were spectacular. We left port from Port Canaveral and as our destination was close to the US Mainland in the Bahamas, we never really lost sight of other ships in the distance, especially with their lights piercing the darkness. It was so lovely.

Exploring the ship was an adventure in itself. The promenade was beautiful at center ship where a lot of shopping and eateries were. The actual multi-deck dining room was also magnificent and a great way to add a little luxury to the nights onboard, which is also included in the base price. The top deck had an awesome waterpark with the Flowrider, waterslides, hot tubs & pools--one with a large outdoor movie screen! With everything else the top deck had to offer, my husband and I took our time walking around to simply look at everything. Plus, the Royal Caribbean app really helped to see all we might have been missing. We did end up seeing the Broadway musical 'Grease' too!

As for the destination in the Bahamas, we got to spend a day at Royal Caribbean's private island CocoCay. The beach and waters reminded me much of home, and I definitely enjoyed taking in the sun's rays. Again, I loved adventuring around the island to see what this special place had to offer. Not only are there plenty of lounge chairs, umbrellas, and complimentary food options, they also offer other ways to elevate the experience. The island offers some luxury amenities, and an amazing waterpark! Not only does it have the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean, but also the tallest waterslide in North America! It was so much fun and even the swim up bar was super cool. I am looking forward to sailing back and doing it all over again! Being able to travel and explore while having a bed anyways waiting to go back and unwind in is amazing!
