Top 5 Things To Do In Niagara Falls, Ontario
Our road trip to Niagara Falls is one of my favorite vacations we have taken as a family. It was exciting to cross the Canadian border, visit a new country, and see one of the Seven Natural Wonders of The World.
1. Journey Behind The Falls
This gets you as close to the Falls as possible. You will descend 125 feet in an elevator and walk through 130- year old tunnels behind Horseshoe Falls. This is a self- guided tour where you read informational tidbits about the history of The Falls as you explore the tunnels. The highlight of this experience is the observation deck offering wet, close up, amazing views of The Horseshoe Falls crashing down in front of you.
Tip: You will get wet! Wear the complimentary poncho they give you. Since this is a self- guided tour, it is easy to rush through- take your time and enjoy the experience.
2. Have a Meal at Skylon Tower
We enjoyed a buffet lunch at Summit Suite Buffet in Skylon Tower. Purchase your tickets outside and then head in to ride the elevator up 775 feet above Niagara Falls. The buffet is your typical buffet of salads, fruit, soup, carved meats, pasta, desserts, etc. and is open for lunch and dinner. The Skylon Tower also offers the Revolving Dining Room that makes 1 full rotation per hour. This is also open for lunch and dinner.
Bonus: Free admission to the top and observation deck with your dining purchase. After we ate, we went up one more floor to the observation deck for 360 degree views.
Tip: There is a pretty wooded path trail that leads back to The Falls out the back door of Skylon Tower.
3. The Niagara SkyWheel
This large ferris wheel is located in Clifton Hill and soars 175 feet above the Falls. We rode in the evening just as the Falls lit up for the night. You sit in an enclosed capsule- similar to a gondola- with windows all around. The views are breathtaking!
Tip: Grab a craft brew at Niagara Brewing Company while you are in Clifton Hill.
4. Voyage to the Falls Tour
Board a 700 passenger boat and get up close and personal to American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls. This is a 20- minute ride not to be missed! Nothing compares to feeling the thunderous roar and power of this natural wonder from the water.
Tip: After disembarking the boat, there is an area to relax with concessions. Take a break with a beer or ice cream and enjoy the scenery.
5. Hershey’s Chocolate World
This 7,000 square foot chocolate paradise is located just outside the Clifton Hill area. It is a retail store offering unique merchandise that makes great souvenirs and gifts to bring home to friends and family members. The best part…the fresh food counter offering baked goods, candies, fudge, and even milk shakes. You will have a hard time choosing from all the wonderful sweets. Get your sweet tooth ready to be wowed!
