Hawaii is one of those destinations that is ideal for either couples or families. I’ve done it both ways and loved it equally. Hawaii was the last destination that my husband and I visited before having children. Then we visited again with our kids nearly 20 years later. It was the 50th state for our kids, so it was a special trip.

I usually recommend that clients visit two islands so that they can experience the differences. Adventure-minded travelers will want to include the Big Island of Hawaii in order to visit Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The lava fields are a stark contrast to the tropical rainforests.

There are so many opportunities for adventure in Hawaii: surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, cliff jumping, riding a bike down a volcano, and more. One of the best experiences in our entire lives was a night dive with giant manta rays.

If you have an interest in agriculture, you can tour plantations of pineapples, macadamia nuts, and coffee. We all enjoyed learning about how these are grown.

Hawaii offers many cultural experiences. You can attend a luau, make a lei, or learn how to hula dance or play the ukelele. History buffs will want to visit Pearl Harbor.

Maybe you just want to relax and enjoy the scenery. Hawaii has so much natural beauty wherever you look. And the sunsets are just divine, creating a romantic setting for couples.
