What Makes a Trip the Best Family Vacation Ever?
I recently returned from our family vacation aboard Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas on a Western Caribbean itinerary which made a stop at the new Perfect Day at Cococay. This post is not going to be about all the amazing features of the ship like the ice skating rink, zip line, dueling waterslides, rock walls, or flowriders. It is not about the various forms of entertainment from Broadway productions, to live music performances, Ice Skating shows, or Aqua shows. It is not even about days spent on wonderful adventures in the caves below Playa del Carmen, holding a sloth and riding B.O.S.S. off the coast of Roatan, or spending a “Perfect Day” at Cococay. Although, I could certainly write a nice article about all of those things and why this was a great choice for a vacation. Instead, this is about memories! When my sister-in-law captioned her Facebook/Instagram post “Best vacation ever ??!” I believe it was the emotions and memories she was referring to. It was the stories we come home and laugh about at Sunday dinner and tell our friends about when they ask "how was your trip?" As our children grow older and time seems to pass by faster and faster, these are the moments we look back on and cherish, the memories made that live on long after the vacation has ended. This is why I believe the "Best Vacation" is every vacation. Whether everything went perfectly or there were things that happened beyond your control, memories were made with the ones we love exploring new places while enjoying new adventures.
