A PERFECT BEACH DAY AT HALF MOON CAY

Little San Salvador Island, also known as Half Moon Cay, is an idyllic castaway island that we all dream about going to someday.   The long, crescent-shaped beach with its powder soft white sand and beautiful turquoise waters is a tropical paradise for those seeking a private island beach escape in the Bahamas.  The beach is approximately 2.5 miles long, and there is ample space to find your own private slice of paradise during your visit.  There are lots of lounge chairs lining the beach and you can also rent a cabana for the day for a more private experience. 

You are surrounded by shallow waters and reefs.  I found the best snorkeling to be at the far end of the beach. 

The cruise lines offer many water sport activities such as stand-up paddle boarding, hobie cats, kayaks, snorkeling, diving, aqua bikes and children’s water park. Plus, parasailing, horseback riding, stingray interaction, nature trails and more. There is a chapel on the island for those interested in getting married or renewing their vows.

The island is visited by guests sailing on Holland America Line and Carnival Cruise Line.  I have had the opportunity to visit Half Moon Cay several times while cruising.  It is one of my favorite private islands in the Bahamas.
