Disney 50th Celebration

Until I was 16 I had only known of Disney from the Sunday program and the Mickey Mouse Club reruns I would watch during summer vacation. But that changed when the family that I babysat for invited me along on their family trip. 

We drove from Oak Creek to New Smyrna Beach, Florida - cementing my love of road trips. At that time paper ticketing system was being used for rides and Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Disney Studios were all still to be built. It didn't matter. One step on Main Street USA and I was hooked. 

After that year I would visit "The Magic Kingdom" every chance I got. Driving down for a sisters vacation in 1980, my honeymoon in 1984 would add Epcot to the visit, 1990 with my 1 year old son and niece gave us the chance to visit Disney Hollywood Studios (then it was known as Disney-MGM Studios) and 1993 with my co-worker and both my sons. 

I have since returned every other year from 1995 to present. Perhaps not every time to the Florida parks, I've photographed fireworks in Anaheim's Disneyland and bridged the language barrier in Disneyland Paris. Each time it wasn't the rides the brought me there, it was the memories that were created. 

From all this past experience I have many helpful hints, have discovered some of the not ride related treasures. Have stayed on and off property, and various ways to arrive at the destination. Car, Rail, Airlines and Bus.

I should also mention that my youngest son is on the Autism spectrum so I have many keys to an enjoyable accessible family vacations and accommodations that you can expect.
