A perfect day in New Zealand

On Bob's Peak overlooking Queenstown, NZ
On Bob's Peak overlooking Queenstown, NZ

Waking up early to view the most magnificent sunrise over Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown, I couldn't help but take a deep breath...it was so impressive and overwhelming.  I finally found true paradise!!  This was early October, perfect time and weather for visiting New Zealand.  After breakfast and a delightful cuppa (flat white coffee), I walked down to the centre of town and was collected by Real Journeys for an exhilarating jet boat adventure on the Shotover River.  This fast-paced adventure got my heart pumping and adrenaline flowing allowing me to continue the day with a smile on my face.  Once I was back in town, I stopped at a small cafe for a delicious lunch before proceeding to the Skyline Gondola, the steepest cable car in the Southern Hemisphere.  Here, I boarded the gondola, rode up 450 metres (nearly 2,000 feet) to the top of Bob's Peak, gifting me the most breathtaking 360' view of Queenstown, one of the world's most beautiful cities.  Reluctantly, I had to ride back down, as opposed to hiking down, as I had an evening experience on the lake.  In the late afternoon, I boarded the TSS Earnslaw, a steamer dating back to 1912, for a cruise and a delicious barbeque dinner at a privately owned sheep farm.  One cannot visit New Zealand without a formal "meet-and-greet" with her sheep.  Once I returned to the pier, it was time to go back to my extraordinary hotel, which I have since called, 'my favourite home away from home'..a 19th century Victorian 5-star property called Hulbert House.  Time to get some rest...for tomorrow, I was scheduled to take a scenic helicopter flight over to Doubtful Sound.   Po Pai  (good night in Maori)
