Adventures in Jordan

It's really hard to think of a single word that can truly encompass everything I feel when I think about the time I spent in Jordan.  There's nothing like it, and it's a destination I think is grossly underrated!

Did you know there are 6 UNESCO sites in Jordan?!  For a small country, that is extremely impressive! Petra and Wadi Rum are two of them.

When you think of the Middle East, you probably don't think of luxury, but guess again!  While we were in Jordan, we shared a hotel with Oprah!  Yes, that Oprah...

And just 2 weeks after we got home from Wadi Rum, Rob Lowe stayed at the very camp we had a delicious, private meal at.  My husband and I will both tell you that this was hands down the best meal we had during our entire stay (and we ate a lot of great food)!

If you enjoy hiking, Petra is not to be missed!  There are so many things to explore in this magical, ancient city!  During our tour, we learned that the Bedouins were still living in the caves at Petra until the government provided housing for them and moved them out for tourism in 1985! That fact just blew my mind.

The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth.  There are many healing properties and health benefits to soaking in the water (but don't get your face wet!!) We had the opportunity to stay at resort that had a world-winning spa.  And if you're wondering if this is where we saw Oprah, it is!

One major highlight for us was visiting Jesus' baptism site at Bethany.  It truly takes your breath away.  Not far from there, we were able to see the site where Elijah was carried away in a chariot of fire!  I just loved getting to see these little bits of the Bible come to life!

You may be wondering about safety, but it was NEVER a concern.  The country of Jordan takes their security very seriously.  We were required to go through metal detectors at nearly every hotel we stayed at, and security in the airport to fly home was more thorough than anything I've ever seen!

We explored this beautiful, and unique country with a private driver and guide, and it was completely flawless.  They went out of their way to make sure we were always satisfied, and made our entire experience unforgettable.  Not only did we experience an amazing destination, but we left with new friends that felt like family.
