The Disney Wish, A Wish Come True!

My partner, Rob, and I on the Disney Wish
My partner, Rob, and I on the Disney Wish

Being the Disney girl at heart I am, experiencing the Disney Wish was on my bucket list since Disney had announced it. Having my gluten intolerance, there are only certain cruise linesĀ I feel comfortable with to make sure I have a safe and enjoyable vacation.

When Disney announced the 2023 Run Disney Marathon, I knew my partner wanted to run the Dopey Challenge (the 5k, 10k, Half, and Full marathon--back to back!) and I suggested we also add on the Castaway 5k Challenge, also known as the Land and Sea Challenge, where you run at least one of the races during the Marathon weekend, and also go on the subsequent Disney Cruise leaving Port Canaveral and run the 5k on their private island, Castaway Cay.

There is absolutely so much during our trip that I loved, but if you are heading on the Wish soon, here is what you want to be aware of!

-You do NOT need to go on a specialty cruise for the regular Castaway 5k--this is free to do on your own and you get a cute medal if you complete it! The Challenge I did was in conjunction with the Marathon Week, we woke up at 5am to be the first off the ship, and they had amazing character meet and greets.

-Disney cruises are not just for families! We went just the two of us, without our girls, and had the BEST time! The adults only sections were amazing, and we didn't feel out of place.

-Make sure you bring outfits for Pirate Night! Disney wasn't giving away any kind of pirate garb, and I'm so glad we packed for the evening. Some take simple shirts, some go all out like Capt' Jack Sparrow!

-Also on Pirate night, all restaurants give the same menu--if wanting to enjoy a specialty dining experience I suggest it on this night!

-Speaking of pirates, be sure the grown ups check out a legit Speakeasy at Hooks Barbery! Not notated anywhere, this barber shop turns into an Old Fashioned bar between the hours of 5pm and 9pm every night--and they were all delicious!

-Don't bother taking your snorkel gear with you to Castaway unless you're very particular--Disney still requires you to rent their yellow "spotting" jackets (like a deflated life jacket) and it costs the same if renting everything else. Save the luggage space.

-Line up for special Disney Character Meet & Greets at least 30 minutes beforehand. These include Superheroes, Star Wars characters, and others. You can check the app itinerary to see when characters will meet to make sure you don't miss out.

-Fun things that make Disney cruises special: Fish hangers, rubber duck hunts, and door decor! These are all things I can help with when booking through me.

Not to make a Titanic reference, but this is seriously just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to having the most fun, Disney filled experience on the Disney Wish. Contact me today and let's Get Out ThereĀ
