Arenal Volcano

From the lush rain forests to the surf waters of the coast, Costa Rica offers something to satisfy the adventurer in your family! Our Spring Break vacation itinerary was the perfect blend of activity and relaxation. The adventure began as we hiked the La Paz waterfall garden and explored their wildlife rescue facility. This was the perfect introduction to what we would experience throughout the remainder of our week.

Our adventure continued with perfectly curated tours through Journese which took us on a walk through the tree-tops along hanging bridges and zip-lining through the rain forest. A real life jungle cruise took us long the river, as our guide spotted wildlife, and a night time walk through the rain forest showed us the creatures that lay waiting for darkness to fall. We also learned about how important the exportation of coffee and cocoa are to the country and were able to see and taste products from the source on a special coffee and chocolate tour. Speaking of tasting...the food in Costa Rica was amazing! Truly farm-to-table...fresh and delicious. We also went sloth spotting with a well trained guide who could find much faster than we ever could on our own!

And to make this mama's tired body body happy, we also spent several afternoons relaxing in the geothermal water hot spring water in Arenal. The Arenal volcano is a majestic site to see (thankfully just smoking...no active lava flow) and the geothermal waters that flow are soothing to after a day of hiking and Costa Rican adventure!
