Disney's 50th Celebration Vacation

Ready to take on the Magic Kingdom
Ready to take on the Magic Kingdom

We were fortunate to visit Walt Disney World not once, but twice during the 50th anniversary celebration.

Our first visit was in January of 2022.  For this visit, we stayed at Art of Animation in the Finding Nemo Family Suites.  The Family Suites are such a wonderful option for larger families.  With two bathrooms and a main bedroom that closes off from the rest of the suite, there is room for everyone to get ready or for little ones to take naps during the day.  I also love that these suites contain a kitchenette with a mini-fridge and microwave!  Finally, Art of Animation has use of Disney’s Skyliner which can take you to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.  Don’t worry if you have a stroller! You can push those straight on.  No need to fold them up like you do on the busses.

Our second, visit was in December for a post cruise stay at the Boardwalk Resort, a Disney Deluxe Resort.  We love the ambiance of the Boardwalk area and the ability to walk into Epcot.  Although this room has only one bathroom, it is quite large and had plenty of space for everyone.  The view was top notch and the kiddos loved being able to walk out on the balcony to watch performers on the Boardwalk in the evening.

For both trips, we utilized Genie+.  Our biggest advice is to have a plan.   By having a plan and grabbing reservations we knew would be important, we were able to ride everything on our list.  In January, that included Ratatouille and in December, Guardians of the Galaxy.  By December, character meetings were back and we got to hug Mickey for the first time in years.  Characters are not just for kids.  Remember, at Disney, everyone gets to take a step back in time and experience the magic.

The 50th Anniversary was a 5 star vacation for our family.  Disney holds a special place in our hearts and will for years to come.
