Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas
I was invited to participate in a 2 night sailing for the naming of the Wonder of the Seas. While this is not a full sailing review, I was able to get a picture of what is available.
Let me start with I DO NOT EVER recommend a Boardwalk Balcony. And I do mean EVER!. Not even if your philosophy is "I am only in my room to sleep". Because day or night - sleep is one thing you will not get much of unless you can go, and stay, asleep in any circumstance. A Central Park balcony, on the other hand is doable... but an ocean facing is FAR superior to either.
It is probably pretty obvious by my specialties, and other reviews, I am not a fan of the city/resorts on the seas, this sailing reminded me of why. There are precious few quiet spots. And even on vacation - I do like my private/quiet areas.
I like (very much) some of the newer cabins - the ultimate family suite is unique to the point I would absolutely recommend it to the right person - and the fact they have "normal" cabins that sleep 6... They are absolutely understanding their market. Did I mention their "normal" Jr Suite has a WALK IN CLOSET! This is game changing.
And since I mention closets. The storage space is plentiful.. Shelves, FULL dress length hanging space, a double hanging closet and drawer space. Not to mention a bathroom that has a shower that feels larger than many at sea because of the configuration.
Now we come to MY vacation sticking point....FOOD. As I have come to expect from this brand - they did not hit my bar of excellence. A few things were just not good, most was OK at best and a very few were excellent.
One thing that stuck out to my travel companion (an agent that I invited to join me) and me - was the fact that the ship is entirely too new to have some of the problems and issues (broken 'stuff') we saw. This spoke volumes to us.
In short would I choose this as a vacation - NO. Would I recommend it - possibly, to the perfect match. But this is something that should always be the case with an agent/client relationship.
