River Cruising in France

I've recently started a new addiction - river cruising! I have sailed on dozens of ocean cruises and have loved all of them! But I was craving something new that would keep me engaged throughout the day instead of just sitting by the pool. Don't get me wrong, there's a time for that, but I needed more.

I just came home from the Colors of Provence cruise down the Rhone River with AmaWaterways. I was blown away by every detail of this trip. The rooms were stunning. The food served on AmaWaterways is some of the best I've ever eaten, and each meal was paired with local wines!

Unlike other rover cruise lines, AmaWaterways includes all of their excursions in the cost of the cruise. Some of the others only include a short walking or bus tour in the mornings and leave you for the rest of the day to explore on your own or pay additional for their "premium" excursions. It was so nice not having to worry about excursion costs and simply pick the one we preferred for each day.

In addition to excursions, all of our meals were included - even the Chef's Table! the food is stunning and they continue to receive awards for their cuisine. Wine and beer are included with all meals, and there's a cocktail hour included every night as well!

The cocktail hour was a great way to connect with friends that we went with and the new ones we made along our way. The last few minutes always ended with our cruise manager prepping us for the next day's activities and a beautiful aria by the ship's entertainer.

Speaking of entertainment, there's local entertainment or activities onboard every day! We enjoyed Flamenco dancers, a string trio, wine class with a French sommelier, and even learned about silk painting!

It was so enjoyable sailing leisurely down the river towards our next destination. We were able to swim in the pool, play cards, watch the scenery, and gasp as we went through 18 river locks!

I can't wait to take another river cruise, and have a few already booked in my future!
