WHAT IS IT LIKE TO CRUISE RIGHT NOW
CRUISING IN 2021
Cruising has returned and I have had an opportunity to sail on several cruise lines since the industry resumed this past summer. Many people, including me, are excited by this development. The cruise experience has changed in many ways over the past two years.
On many ships all passengers must be vaccinated for COVID-19. In addition, test negative for coronavirus in advance of sailing. Typically, 48 hours prior to sailing.
The on-board experience has changed and guests may be required to wear a face mask indoors and outdoors. On-board policies vary by cruise line and are frequently changing. Most ships have social distancing policies in public places.
You may be required to take additional COVID-19 tests while on-board. Positive COVID-19 cases have been low on voyages since the restart of the cruise industry.
Each destination has their own rules regarding mask wearing and social distancing.
Itinerary disruptions may occur more often due to frequent changes in destination travel restrictions.
Often ships are not sailing at 100% occupancy. Regardless of occupancy levels, the ships are sailing with a full or almost full crew. Thus, on-board service has been very good.
Overall, my cruise experiences have been good and feel it is an excellent time to take a cruise for those who are fully vaccinated and are looking to begin cruising again.
