Sea Turtle Release! Ocho Rios, Jamaica

My daughter and I were eagerly anticipating our trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica in the fall of 2022, having meticulously planned the adventure for quite some time. However, a month before departure, a hiccup occurred as my daughter broke her wrist, resulting in a cast that persisted until our travel date. Despite having to cancel exciting excursions like zip-lining and rafting, we stumbled upon an unexpected gem.

Upon reaching our destination, we sought guidance from the Island Routes representative to explore alternative activities. To our delight, a sign announced a sea turtle release scheduled for the next day. Seizing the opportunity, we eagerly signed up, leading to an extraordinary experience.

The following day, a scenic bus ride transported us to a secluded beach where a local expert passionately shared insights into sea turtles, meticulously documenting their habits and hatchings. Witnessing the release of baby turtles into the ocean, partaking in the process, and learning about their journey was an awe-inspiring and indelible moment. This unforeseen adventure taught us the valuable lesson that even when plans go awry, travel has a unique way of offering enchanting surprises that often surpass our expectations. It truly was a day etched in our memories as one of the most extraordinary experiences of our journey.
