Beaches - Turks & Caicos

The Beaches sign as you enter the property

I just returned from a FAM trip with several travel colleagues to Beaches Turks and Caicos. When flying into the island, I was simply amazed by the bright blue color of the ocean.  Pictures do not do it justice, and in my opinion, it’s so much more beautiful in person.

I experienced that exotic island feel right from the start when I stepped off the plane directly onto the tarmac, as there are no jet ways at this airport.   I had never been to Turks & Caicos, so imagine my excitement upon arrival!

Some of us agents decided to purchase the Fast Track option ahead of time so passing through Customs was a breeze.  At the far end of the exit, past all the hustle and bustle of other resort transportation, you'll find the Beaches Resort check in counter. After a short wait, we boarded our shuttle van to the resort.  It was a quick 15 minute ride until we reached our beautiful destination, and dropped off at the lobby entrance to the resort.   There are 5 “Villages” that make up the Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort. They consist of Caribbean Village, Seaside Village, Italian Village, French Village, and Key West Village. We had the privilege of staying in the Italian village. Once in the lobby, where we were greeted again with some yummy fruity rum drink while we waited for check-in. Some of us flew in a day early so we had to share rooms for the first night, and then once all the agents arrived the next day, we were moved to our own rooms.

Once we had our own rooms, my room was a "walk-out" first floor room right to the pool with a small patio that had a lounge and 2 chairs, as well as a drying rack for wet clothes.   It couldn't have been in a better location.  The room slept 7, and consisted of a separate room with 2 bunks and trundle that can sleep 3 children. There was also a sink, closet, chessboard table with a good sized TV and several shelves and drawers for personal items.  There was one bath that contained a separate room for the toilet, a shower stall, a soaker tub with jets and a 2 sink vanity.  The main room also had a closet and a wet bar with a fully stocked refrigerator and a good size dresser in which to put personal items with a large TV on top.  The four poster king bed was the highlight of the room, with a nightstand, a small desk and a comfortable chair.  This room also had a daybed with a trundle underneath.  A family of 4 or 5 would fit comfortably in this room.

Beaches has 24 restaurants (all included with your stay) and several bars for the adults (also all included).  Options range from snacks, coffees and pastries, to gourmet meals, to ocean side dining, to “Adults Only” restaurants. There is a “dress code” for some of the restaurants, so men, pack at least one pair of pants, just in case, and ladies... a sundress will suffice!  A few of the other restaurants also have age restrictions for dinners.. For example, “Sky” is 16 and older, and “Le Petit Chateau” is 12 and older.. again, only for dinners. All others are completely family friendly. Mario’s even has a small area for kids (smaller tables and chairs), and some even have a Sesame Street Character Breakfast!

The entire resort looks very overwhelming at first, but everything is more condensed than you think, and very easily walkable. However, there are golf cart rides offered to those who would like to quickly get from one end of the resort to the other. In fact, there is even a tunnel that goes below ground that you can ride through. Each village has its own main pool with a swim up bar.  Just be warned that they are a bit deep in certain spots.  The swim up bars are amazing and have both adult AND kid drink menus. There are also several hot tubs located around the property.

The beach is gorgeous with crystal blue warm water.  There is a dive shop is where you can sign up for snorkeling, scuba diving and various other water sports... also ALL included.  A word of advice... sign up early for scuba, snorkeling or the glass bottom boat because reservations go quick. In fact, I suggest to sign up at least a few days before or upon your arrival to the resort.

There is also a pretty big water park on property with large slides, a lazy river, splash park, and surf simulator gives something for everyone. Throw in the frozen yogurt and mac and cheese trucks and you have yourself an amazing day of family fun!! It is centrally located between the Italian and French villages. Also in this area is the Xbox lounge, the arcade (complete with pool, table tennis, etc), and Bobby Dee’s, where you can order burgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers and fries 24 hours a day! Oh.. and there is also soft serve ice cream!

There are retail shops located in each village for that perfect souvenir you'd like to bring home.  These are at your expense, of course.

There is something for everyone at Beaches Turks and Caicos, and I look forward to returning again some day with my grandchildren!
