Alaska: The Trip I Never Knew I Needed

Glacier Bay
Glacier Bay

Is an Alaskan cruise on your Travel Bucket List? If it's not, it should be and there are a million reasons why! Let's talk about a few!

When you think of Alaska, many things may come to mind. Adventure, beauty, glaciers, and wildlife are all things I think of. While Alaska wasn't #1 on my personal travel bucket list, it was definitely somewhere I wanted to go. I fell in love while I was there though and now, I can't wait to go back and see more!

The first thing that you need to decide when you plan an Alaskan cruise is the itinerary. There are a variety of choices such as round trips from cities such as Vancouver or Seattle or one-way trips north or south. If you want to experience the land and sea in Alaska, consider a cruise tour that includes a stay in an authentic Alaskan lodge! I opted for a 10-night cruise with stops at 5 different ports: Juneau, Skagway, Sitka, Icy Strait Point, and Ketchikan. There was also a day of scenic cruising through Glacier Bay which was truly breathtaking!

There are several cruise lines with Alaskan itineraries too. Each one will provide a slightly different experience and I can help you find the best fit for your trip based on what you are looking for on your vacation! I sailed with Princess Cruise Line, which is known for an amazing Alaskan cruise experience! The ship was beautiful and I highly recommend a balcony stateroom to take in the views as you sail! Don't miss the specialty dining experiences and the premier package is a must! There are a few packages to choose from that you can add to your cruise prior to boarding. The different levels include WiFi, premium desserts, your choice of beverages, and more!

One of the best parts of my cruise experience was the excursions available at each port. There was a wide variety of options to choose from including whale watching, a dog sledding demonstration, zip riding on one of the longest zip lines in the country, and even a photography outing where the guide gave tips and tricks! There are excursions for all ages and all activity levels too! The excursions were the perfect way to get a taste of each port and learn about different aspects of the destination.

Are you thinking about Alaska? I'd love to help you experience it all for yourself! Let's chat today!
